Wasn't the best news to wake up to this morning. I hope they do a nice tribute to her before the NRL matches this weekend and also at the State Of Origin.

RIP beautiful lady, you were simply the best.

I remember being at that GF in 93 Tina was absolutely on fire and the crowd loved the performance and most were belting that song out at the top of their lungs with her

Yes more sad news. What a star she was and to come through all that adversity in the early part of her life and career. Here’s one of her classic early hits. It’s been covered multiple times since but no one does it better than Tina. What a voice. RIP Tina.

Thanks for sharing Andy as I had no idea..this one is hitting me very hard as I took Mum to see her in concert. We truly are losing all of our beautiful ladies of rock and pop..

I remember watching her documentary and we all know the story of how she left Ike, but I didn’t realise that she literally ran away from him by ducking out of a hotel instead of checking in, running across a highway with several lanes of traffic too…

                I have a heartache tonight…

hope everyone is doing ok..look after yourselves..xx

Speaking last night I was saying It is kind of sad seeing all those we saw on the tv movies and listened to on the radio pass Judith ONJ Irene Cara and Tina Turner in the last twelve months I really liked the latter two I used to watch Fame the movie with my little sister and I found Tina Turner through my older sister

Lost track of how many times I saw Beyond Thunderdome at the movies when I used to skip school absolutely loved that movie

When I think of Tina Turner I think of being happy and having fun as a teenager She was positive with high energy and also vulnerable yet strong Her earlier issues have been documented but she came back strong in her middle aged years and to use the saying I used when I first laid eyes on her in the 80s was she is one hot momma
After much deliberation as to whether or not I would return to playing my chosen sport yesterday I’ve decided to go again Tina Turner has reminded me middle age is no barrier as long as you are positive and have the drive and energy Simply The Best doesn’t spring to mind more aptly for me is We Don’t Need Another Hero

I finish this with a clip of the awesome Tina in Thunderdome

I really haven't been following Beyonce's career (yes I do live happily under my middle aged rock) however I found this last night as I am very partial to a good Kennedy Centre Honour performance. Take a look at the sheer joy on Tina's face..the costume is a replica of one of her most famous. Hard to believe this tribute was 18 years ago..where does the time go?

I've had this live album on repeat from youtube all day. Highlights include a cracking version of Steamy Windows, which funnily enough I had been playing on itunes last weekend as I had been thinking how I didn't have enough Tina in my collection..well that will change now..

Similar to Andy, I watched Tina and also Irene because of my sisters. I thank them also for leaving Jeff Beck and Beatles albums around the house for my curious 5 year old self to discover.. I have a deep love of those 1970’s variety shows as they were called back then. Genuine artists like Sonny & Cher and Donny & Marie, Olivia , Dolly Parton and Cheryl Ladd all had their own shows and would have guests like Tina..I love 1970’s the most - the music, the fashions and the freedom that came off the back of the swinging 60’s. Later, it was Saturday afternoons watching Irene on Solid Gold on one of 2 channels we had and then going to evening mass afterwards. Marcia Hines had her own show too, Marcia Hines Music on the ABC and John Farnham & Debbie Byrne had Farnham and Byrne.

I’d watch shows like these with my grandmother, aunt, mother and sister when I used to come to Sydney for school holidays.

                            Here is Tina with Cher.
