Comrade Paddo at it again quoting Menadue's Malarkey Swirls and Deviations and Full Moon over Alabama - both far left Anti West/Capitalist Tin Foil hat conspiracy sites
Even a half-wit would know the Russian unprovoked invasion of Ukraine had nothing to do with any daft denazification and demilitarisation angle that Putin was using to justify it.
Putin and his henchmen should be arrested to face trial for war crimes
I’m surprised no one has commented on the release, or lack there of, of the Iraq war cabinet papers and the so called WMD.
Nothing to see as Saddam should have been taken out the first time.
No complaints or issues I see from the under-the-bed reds about Syria, where al-Assad and co-conspirators Turkey Russia and the state sponsor of terrorism, Iran, are butchering those opposing the dictator al-Assad's government forces, including Syrian and Iraqi Kurds whom Turkey has been butchering since the Ottoman Empire days.
The problem with the Middle East/Muslim world is the lack of democracy and all the basics that a democracy has: freedom of speech, association, press, and basic human rights.
Many of these countries are run by dictatorships. Islamic fundamentalists and terrorist groups who would rather militarise than look after their citizens basic needs—in Yemen, for example—experiencing mass starvation as a result of the civil war and are now attempting to block the international waters, block the Red Sea shipping route, and attack international shipping. Egypt earns around 30 million USD a day in Suez Canal revenue.

Sometimes i think the problem is the west making the Middle East their problem! Let the Middle East countries decide what's best for them.
The Americans love to talk about the wonders of democracy while they are hanging onto theirs by a thread

More of Salvo's malarkey more like. Where do all of those "authoritative" stats come from? And the Syrian government is still the legal government, King seems to think that legality is an irrelevancy once a country is proscribed by the US.
MR was protesting the fact that our government led us into an illegal invasion (ie one not sanctioned by the UN) - nothing to do with Saddam or his departure.
I was recently explaining to my grandson why the American working class are attracted to the Trumpster and other demagogues and I told him that ordinary folk with little or no interest in politics have eventually realised that things like stagnant wages, growing disparity in wealth, wars all over etc, etc are not in their best interests. They have come to see "Democracy" as rule by the wealthy - Plutocracy - and, moreover, their views are blatantly dismissed. Whichever Party is elected, the result is the same. Many of the thousands of the disgruntled express a determination to tear the whole thing down and are revved up by a right wing media which seeks to guide the unhappy masses to support anti democratic but extreme pro Capitalist elements which thrive on generating fear of the "other", chauvinistic nationalism and the rest. The future is bleak for the US and for all of us as a consequence.
Howard and Co. should be the subject of an inquiry into our part in the Iraq invasion just as Blair was a that inquiry should also look at the role of our "Security" services, the "Ning Nongs" as Keating calls them, but that is unlikely to happen. The reaction of our media monopoly can only be imagined given that Murdoch was the major international urger for the war. Once more we're mushroom-ville - kept in the dark and fed on bullshit as the Conservatives once again escape exposure.

Yes I remember the time very well Howard kowtowing to Dubya. It was at this point and following on from the disgraceful children overboard lie, that Howard lost me completely. Which is why when posters suggest otherwise, it gives me the irrits.
You need to see that the US is a world hegemon MR. It consumes 40% of the planet's natural resources and like most hegemons it can't turn back. the population needs to maintain its standard of living. Some might say over indulgence. The wars that we see are threats to its equilibrium. If the past is any guide it won't stand down without massive resistance but the future is China's
I return once more to Tradies (Howard's Battlers) and what can only be a greed contagion affecting so many of them.
The first thing to keep in mind is that the median wage in NSW is $50K p/a - the Median is a better indicator than the Mean (as MR will endorse) because it is the most commonly occurring, not the average. Supermarkt people, shop assistants, factory workers - the average worker, earns that wage which is based on an hourly rate. Tradies, on the other hand, have junked hourly rate calculations almost entirely, preferring to charge for the "job".
My build is nearing completion. Already the cost is twice what it would have been 10 years ago (unlike wages) and now the "finishing" is about to start. Landscaping will involve some earth moving and the placement of about 100 sandstone blocks ($120 each) bedded on hot mix plus pebbles and stuff. I would think one week top so how can $70K be justified? That was one quote and the cheapest so far is $50K.
Likewise painting. I have collected period doors and windows over years and, fair enough, they obviously would take more time to paint than would running a roller over a cheap flush door. There are about 30 doors (which include the multiples in French and bi-folds) and 30 windows - one quote is $50K!!!
The thought seems to be, " I could do this job for $X but if you sell this house you'll probably get $X squared so I'd like a slice of that action if ya don't mind."
