Almost 50 years wetting lines and never seen or heard of this goat fish you speak of. Will have to look it up.

I do have a soft spot for it’s farmyard friend the pigfish however. I’ve only ever caught them outside in open deeper water tho. YUM!

Do yourself a favour and make some Thai fishcakes with the salmon. They need to be skinned and filleted and the bloodlines in the centre of the fillets removed . There are a stack of thai fish cake recipes on the net . They go beautifully with a sweet chilli dipping sauce

Very similar to what are marketed as Barbounia here.

Yes have heard of the legendary pig fish, had a friend who used to fish for them off Wedding Cake island off Coogee and also off the coast of Maroubra, haven't tried one but they are suppose to be very high up on the eating scale.

Funny you say that. I was discussing with the missus just last week the prospect of making my own after I ordered some from the local Thai place.

I like the way you think!

Good luck . See if you can find a good authentic recipe . Made with fresh fish they are far superior to any I've had from a resteraunt. Which tend to be short on flavour and a bit rubbery .

You rarely see them in the markets here in Sydney but i think last time i saw them they were around $55 a kilo whole.

Yep treated properly they scrub up pretty well but you do have to do all the above that you mentioned to make them edible. Years ago there used to a product called Frelish you could buy in a can, it was basically Australian salmon in a can to make fish cakes with, don't think you can buy it now.

Also Renty mentioned he caught a tailor, a good size one their fillets work well with soy sauce based sauces. Yumm i am feeling like a feed of fish now.

My partner was a QANTAS flight attendant. And MR you're quite a gal, to have achieved what you have with such serious impairment is admirable to say the least. Good on you, you're a legend in my book. The teacher reference was disgusting - someone who didn't understand, and probably didn't like, his job

Anyway. my FA partner would sometimes bring home stories of American passenger stupidity. One of the best was:

                                Did you enjoy your stay?

Oh yes but I wondered why there was that drumming sound when the signal changes at traffic lights?

That clicking sound alerts blind people to go.

                                Oh,,,,you let blind people drive?
