Mainstream news/discussion: Russia's invasion of Ukraine

I note with interest that Ukraine has hit Moscow with drone strikes in the last few days ( reported by Russian state media- not just MSM). While some say that by doing so they are showing Russia and the world what they are capable of, i personally dont think its a wise decision. It prompted the Deputy Chairman of the Russian security council Dimitri Medvedev say " We'd have to use a nuclear weapons if Ukrainian offensive was a success". I'm not sure what Zelenskiy is hoping to achieve with these strikes. It's not going to weaken Putin's position as president-rather it will give him a chance to whip up more patriotic support.

Ukraine is best off concentrating on taking back what has been stolen from them.....and sending Russian body bags back to Moscow.

How many people would have thought 18 months ago that this "special operation" would still be going? A world leading military country like Russia still trying to conquer a minnow like Ukraine. Add to the "fact " that 90% of the world support Russia's actions, you gotta say these Ukrainians are one hell of a resilient race!!

I’m the sole judge of that and as I explained before, I choose to forgive and forget as that is what us enlightened folk do. We’ve all had some very unpleasant times over the years on here (I’m blaming Covid and lockdown madness for that) but we’ve also had some funny ones too. I have enough aches and pains without having to carry grudges around too..it’s ugly and stubborn behaviour and not my way of life.

I don’t want to be the meat in your idiot sandwich as Elaine from Seinfeld would say, but that’s just it., neither of you are idiots..both of you are very intelligent, have good senses of humour and well read in your own ways and I’ve learned a lot from being friends with both of you away from here over the years and for that I will always be grateful. Now pull your heads in both of you and grow up. If you see each other around at the track or a Roosters game, please shake hands and play nicely. I know I’m fabulous and gorgeous but I may not be around forever to keep an eye on the pair of you. Stick to my cover versions thread and Eddie's music thread and find some common ground there..keep those threads going with something worthwhile..

Speaking of mainstream news, how bout this comment from Phil Gould on Nine Entertainments show, 100% Footy. Phil was talking about his inside knowledge of what really happened at the Melbourne Storm regarding the salary cap breaches.

“I would love someone to write the real story of what actually happened at that time,” he said. “I really would because I’m very privy to a lot of the information and I guess the secrets will die with me, as it will die with a lot of people. But a lot of people were thrown under the bus at that time – a lot of people – by people at the very top of a few organisations, they were thrown under a bus, including the players.”

“I feel very sorry for the players at that time and I actually campaigned and argued for them ... what happened in the game at that time was an absolute disgrace and it was a massive cover-up, [but] I suppose the truth will never be told.”

He seems to be referring to News Ltd and their ownership of the Storm and half-ownership of the competition at the time. Likely suggesting that News Ltd won with their own team the competition that they were organising. Sounds like a rort to me!

Now if you are going to make anything in honour of ism for his birthday it cannot be lemon biscotti .The apt thing and reallythe only thing to make in isms honour ( as im sure craft beer and home brew is beyond your skill set) would be Limoncello
