Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin orders troops marching towards Moscow to turn back 'to avoid bloodshed'

Mutinous Russian mercenary boss Yevgeny Prigozhin says he had ordered his fighters, who had been advancing on Moscow, to turn around and return to their bases in order to avoid bloodshed.

In audio released by his press service, Mr Prigozhin said his fighters had advanced to within 200 kilometres of Moscow in 24 hours.

Mr Prigozhin will move to Belarus under a deal brokered by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko to end the mutiny, the Kremlin said on Saturday.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters Mr Lukashenko had offered to mediate, with Russian President Vladimir Putin's agreement, because he had known Mr Prigozhin personally for about 20 years.

Mr Peskov said the criminal case that had been opened against Mr Prigozhin for armed mutiny would be dropped, and that the Wagner fighters who had taken part in his "march for justice" would not face any action, in recognition of their previous service to Russia.

The preceding dribble is what you get when the contributors' sole source is our lamentable stenographer MSM.

      * The Guardian in recent years has been eschewed by the Left and any thoughtful reader as just another MSM rag and disseminator of M16 propaganda. The UK has a long anti Russian history stretching back to the Crimean War and, arguably, encouraged Hitler to invade the Soviets in the 30s. It is also a major arms contributor to this one. What we see in the MSM is not popular opinion, it's the opinion of wealth and power.

      * Izzy's knickers are are bound to become unknotted in time. We've heard and seen this unsubstantiated success guff from the US dominated media since the balloon went up over a year ago. Nothing's changed.

      * The Russian Embassy lease issue, like AUKUS, is shameful deference by a Labor government to our "security" services and our near monopoly Right Wing media. The "Ning Nongs" (as Keating called them) at ASIO and the Year 10 Catholic school leavers at News Corp are prepared to crucify any deviation from what they've collaboratively put in place over 80 years, especially when there's the opportunity to sink a progressive government (which this one isn't but could be).

      * Contributions by people like 08 tell us that although 60% say that they distrust our MSM, the other 40% apparently do trust it. Lazy thinking is all the fashion and, all to the benefit of rich and powerful war mongers.

It's hilarious how they've gone missing after supporting this war and blaming 'the west' the whole time ay?

I note that JM's site currently has NOTHING about Russia. Rather, they are trying to distract the narritive by saying:

        - Australia should have a bill of rights (um, isn't that an American thing? Or, is there a Chinese/Russian/North Korean bill of rights that's supposedly best practice?)

        - There is now a consensus that Australia should cut ties with the USA and form a close strategic alliance with China. (Lemme guess - now that Russia's farked it's our chance to stand up and be a resource-rich dictatorship that supplies all the naughty countries with uranium, coal, metallic ores and strategic minerals like Russia does? Call me strange but I prefer our current, diversified model! Oh and democracy beats power struggles between privately owned militia).

        - Albanese is gutless because he won't side with China in saying that Taiwan is not independent and its current government should peacefully hand everything over to China. (You have shared this opinion previously... how is a country part of China if it has its own independent government, currency, passports and language? Sorry, I must just be really ignorant...)

Be interesting to see how all of this unfolds but I'm personally glad we didn't take Menadue's advice and side with Russia. To me the main lesson is that dictatorships are too random/chaotic to bet your house on.

            * No Isambard, a Bill of Human Rights is a Democratic thing - essential in fact. Otherwise the rich and powerful hold sway as they do here in Ozland. You remember? They and their US mates dismiss democratically elected governments.

            * The Menadue article espouses non alignment, not an alliance with China. Our establishment devotion to the US, the most violent nation in History, is nothing but rich and powerful Whitey ambition at the expense of the world that Whitey had previously colonised. The USA consumes 40% of the world's natural resources.

            * Forget Albanese, did you see. in the same piece, that Menzies specifically precluded Taiwan from any future ANZUS military adventure? Again, in the same very interesting article, Bob Carr quotes a dystopian scenario mooted by a former US Admiral regarding the outcome of a future US/China conflict. It's an horrendous prospect but the nation of nongs in which we live will likely bring it on. We let one bloke make the final call ffs. Could be someone like ol' Smoko who believes in The Rapture. Then again who's gonna listen to that know nothing, Bob Carr? Much better to go with the opinion of some MSM Catholic school Year 10 leaver. You know, one of those blokes from the School of Hard Knocks and the University of Life. You can see and endure the like on any MSM platform.

The whole "rebellion" story reminds me of Machiavelli's warning against mercenaries:
I say, therefore, that the arms with which a prince defends his state are either his own, or they are mercenaries, auxiliaries, or mixed.

Mercenaries and auxiliaries are useless and dangerous; and if one holds his state based on these arms, he will stand neither firm nor safe; for they are disunited, ambitious and without discipline, unfaithful, valiant before friends, cowardly before enemies; they have neither the fear of God nor fidelity to men, and [one’s own] destruction is deferred only so long as the attack is; for in peace one is robbed by them, and in war by the enemy. The fact is, that they have no other attraction or reason for keeping the field than a trifle of stipend, which is not sufficient to make them willing to die for you. ...
              ...
I wish to demonstrate further the infelicity of these arms [i.e., mercenaries]. The mercenary captains are either capable men or they are not; if they are, you cannot trust them, because they always aspire to their own greatness, either by oppressing you, who are their master, or others contrary to your intentions; but if the captain [i.e., the leader of the mercenaries] is not skillful, you are ruined in the usual way [i.e., you will lose the war].

              Wake up suckers.

What I'd love to know, ay! The whole reversal of the march has me wondering if the whole thing's just an elaborate piece of Russian trolling to see who bites.

Sigh... the world of dictatorships. I'm just glad that I don't have to live with this sorta crap happening on my doorstep. It's so chaotic!

                      LOLz!

This is the guy that also said 'Russia’s illegal attack on Ukraine breaches the 1994 Budapest Memorandum' and also 'Tsar Vladimir’s scorecard – off to a bad start'.

My reaction is that it's great to see thay not all of Menadue's contributors are on the Kremlin's payroll.

Oh, now he finds someone he likes on Menadue. Forget that lot like Bob Carr, Paul Keating etc. who are clearly on the commo payroll.

                        * Hogue, the author, is a career Oz diplomat and his views need to be taken seriously but they were expressed early and new light has now been shed on the whole fiasco (and that's what it was).

                        * Prigozhin, the Wagner chief did time in the 80s and 90s. On release he opened a Hot Dog stand in Petrograd during the wild west period in the 90s and through thuggery rose to prominence as a Putin supporter finally taking command of Wagner Group (Jail bird mercenaries).

                        * Our MSM makes great play out of the mercenary tag, conveniently forgetting that the US has, and has used, its own version - Blackwater - also a group of wrong 'uns accused of myriad war crimes in Iraq.

                        * Recently, Prigozhin was subordinated to the minister for defence, an old rival and it was him who was the target of the "rebellion" along with the Military High Command. He never criticised Putin but was hoping to force a reversal of the decision to demote him. It was/is a matter of personal ambition and widely seen that way.

                        * The fascists are losing this war - running out of trained manpower and materiel. The great counter offensive has floundered and failed. What we are told is wishful thinking but, one again, the sheeple are the ones paying the price for US arrogance.

Here's one from the man himself. Menadue was a top tier Oz public servant and later CEO of QANTAS. He doesn't need to be on any "payroll". His only detraction, in my opinion, is his recent embrace of Catholicism.

Ok ok....nothing to see here hey. Here i was thinking it was baaaaaaaad news for Putin-but im just a sheepie.

So if Cavan Hogue waited a day for the " new light" that has been shed, he would have a different viewpoint? All that's happened in the last 24 hours is Putin is (predictably) back to talking tough. Id say he has a bit of paranoia regarding the possible uprising of other anti Kremlin factions within Russia
