Missed this one? By uplift do you mean moving costs? Actually not much as we are throwing most of our junk away and our apartment was furnished by my company. We just have a few boxes really. HOWEVER ... something ended up being so expensive I am almost embarrassed to admit it. The total cost of sending my dog to Australia came to about $18,000 AUD. That is not a typo. Unbelievable and I we consider ourselves fortunate to be able to pay it. Oh and half way through the process the Australian Government changed the law meaning he has to stay in quarantine in Melbourne for 30 days and not ten days as originally suggested.

By uplift, I mean when do the movers come to pick up your stuff?

Ours was collected in the first week of March and now, 4 months on, still no sign of it!

I get the whole issue with the dog. The costs were the reason we sent ours to the resort that is my parents place in QLD. Leaving her up there was one of the hardest things we’ve had to do but although we could afford it, the option to leave here at a place with 2 cooked meals a day, 2 other dogs to play with, a huge yard and a pool to swim in, meant we decided not to pay the $16000 one way!

Don’t get wrong, she worth more than money but we had a perfectly good option to use instead of getting ripped off.
