Corruption in the NSW government has been around forever and not just limited to the Libs. Nifty Nev, Iemma and Keneally via Eddie Obeid. The whole set up has stunk on many occasions and on both sides of the political fence.

she was certainly guilty of poor judgment in her lovers, or at least not casting him adrift when it was clear that he was dodgy.
pork barrelling is common practice so not sure that 'siphoning' funds to wagga was remarkable.
she should have realised that if she didn't want to publicise her relationship when she clearly had to according to the ministerial code of conduct then the relationship wasn't worth pursuing.
maybe it was 'serious corruption' by the letter of some law but it was small potatoes. still, she should acknowledge that she was in the wrong

It certainly has. The Rum Corps set the standard but you're showing your MSM reliance again Mighty One. Iemma? How so? Wran? Again how so? He was cleared after investigation of the corrupt magistrate/ Kevin Humphries thing. Keneally?
Only Eddie has been whacked by ICAC out of that lot and deservedly so - another "Christian". No MR, the Libs/ Nats take the cake. Money grubbing is in the DNA after all.
Methinks you're a little sorry for Gladdy. Unsurprising given your country background. Was it the stop the rot ACA interview framing the bounder boyfriend hoodwinking the love struck damsel or just a lifelong commitment to the Libs, them being the best money managers an' all and you being an economist?
* Dunno what to say about your remarks Zac. She's been declared corrupt by ICAC ffs. Did you watch the ACA whitewash too.
By the way, my meathead former History student is now giving us all the benefit of his wisdom on ACA nowadays. Makes big bucks no doubt. What a joke!Last edited by Paddo Colt 61; 06-30-2023, 05:53 PM.

declared by icac ffs? a new respect for our legal institutions? not disclosing her relationship with whatsisnmame while giving his electorate funds was clearly 'corrupt' but it was at the lower scale of corruption. if she didn't have a relationship with him would the money have feen funded? i don't know, but given all the pork barrelling that routinely and probably legally goes on i don't think that if the funds had still been given i don't think an eyebrow would have been raised

Yeah nice one Paddo. What ACA interview? I don’t go anywhere near that crap program. For the billionth time stop suggesting I am easily hoodwinked by the so called MSM. I suggest you go get your memory tested as it conveniently forgets that I’ve addressed this point multiple times. Frontline with Rob Stich. Remember that show? Absolutely brilliant and one of my faves of the 90s. That sums up my opinion of commercial current affairs shows. It had me in fits of laughter when I watched it back then and nothing has changed my opinion since then. Not all economists are conservatives you do realise? Of course you do, you just like stirring the pot. Also my economics degree does not define me. I have other interests that concern me other than good financial management. Disability, inequality, education, health just to name a few.

Just having a lend MR. I deserve the bollocking that you give me. It's partly a masochistic streak that prompts me to invoke your call sign.
Frontline was gem no doubt about that. Most Ozzies wouldn't get it and didn't get it since they don't watch the ABC, not that the ABC is much different to the Commercials these days.
The ALP government in NSW is gradually cleaning out the incompetent Lib executive appointments in the State PS but there's not much of an indication that Albo and Co are doing the same at Commonwealth level so we'll be stuck with those Mike Moore presenters on Aunty for a while yet. That right wing lightweight Stan Grant spat the dummy and, hopefully, Sarah Ferguson will be hounded out by the real ABC viewing audience. Who knows, had things gone on, my old student might have been hired. As it is ACA have snapped him up.
Re Education. One of my obsessions is classroom behaviour in our State schools. I append a very interesting piece on the subject.

What intrigues me the most about this is the supposedly secret nature of Daz and Glads relationship.
Why was it so secret? Was she embarrassed about him? Or vice versa? Apparently Daz was the boss in the relationship.
Or was it secret so they could profit more at the taxpayers expense, hoodwinking us all?

What is comes down to is that she was Steve Smith to Darryl's David Warner. I don't care how hard up you are, allowing corruption and graft because you're getting sexed up is beyond the pale.
"I don't want to know about that" is what sank her.

I think the McGuire / Glad relationship is all very said. What a male chauvinistic bully he is. Why she felt she needed to stay in such a relationship is just sad. Did it help her politically? But not declaring it publicly was just wrong, stupid and illegal. And corrupt.
And yes Paddo, I never missed an episode of Frontline. I remember it upset the commercial networks, ACA and whatever Stan Grant’s stupid show on 7 was at the time. Probably because it cut too close to the bone. I also used to watch Media Watch and snigger at the stuff Stuart Littlemore would bring up. He was smug and arrogant and obnoxious but he sure shone an interesting light on the tactics used in the media at the time. The ABC these days is best just avoided altogether, much like all of free to air TV. Your article on the education system is also very good. I did a lot of research when deciding which school to send my kids to. With my own experience at school I was very mindful of them not having to go through the same sort of rubbish I went through. But you’ll never completely stop bullying sadly and for many families their options are limited while the public system doesn’t have the resources it really needs, especially in low socio-economic and regional areas.Last edited by mightyrooster; 07-01-2023, 06:08 PM.

* MR. The possible role of PTSD in some kids' behaviour( and the figures are about right from experience) never crossed my mind when dispensing the cane in the low socio economic areas in which I worked. I learnt from my experience with the Marist Brothers. I admit to tinge of the guilts after reading the article but what's to be done? Tory philosophy in the 19th Century had it that society was a rudderless ship and that money spent on social problems was a waste and I think that attitude persists in modern Oz in regard to Education. I guess that all we can do, in the circumstances, is to stay away from low socio economic schools which is a tragedy for poor people with hopes for their children.
I remember, when working at Cleveland St High, a woman arrived to enrol her two well turned out daughters, possibly a new, better off, terrace buyer when Redfern was changing in the 90s. My inclination, which I didn't follow, was to warn her that there wasn't much educational happening in the place. They would have found that out pretty quickly I'd imagine.
* Count. Wasn't that "I'm the boss" astounding? I wonder if it wasn't their in joke. Whatever, the crop of Libs post 90s have been unashamed income maximisers (and they've a lot of kindred thinkers in the ALP) and that often seems to be their appeal to Tradies and the like. Howard was one and was/is still their
patron saint. They head up that greedy bunch among us, disdainful of climate action and any kind of social equity - the "Who dies with the most toys wins" brigade.Last edited by Paddo Colt 61; 07-01-2023, 10:43 PM.
