I went a whole decade or so thinking the song only had 2 verses because the third verse was completely chopped from the recording. When I first heard the third verse in my early 20s I was totally taken aback.

I had one called Bobby Dazzler and Bryan Ferry's A Hard Rains Going To Fall had at least a third of the song missing, it didn't make sense if you had already heard the original version.
I remember my parents having 20 Power Hits on the Majestic label and the butcher job they did on Rusell Morris's The Real Thing was horrendous .

Oh not The Real Thing. That’s one of the greatest songs of the 60’s and you need to hear every second of it. I remember when I was young and trying to record songs on my tape recorder of the Top 40 countdown and the radio announcer would come in and talk over the end of the song. That used to really annoy me too.

Lol yes, you never got to hear the fade out of the song before the announcer would start talking. Also used to love the top 40 charts that you could get at the record shops every week, that's when there was a real top 40 based on physical sales .

We never had that where I grew up in a small country town. Our record shop was useless when it came to getting the latest hits. I had to wait for whenever my parents decided to do an hour long trip to a bigger regional town where there wax a half decent record shop.
