I’ve got a better idea I will share todays hangover
I'll share a bottle of homebrew and some limoncello then.
Reminds me of the day I left Tokyo for small town Japan. My colleagues all took me out for a farewell and a guy was like 'if you skull 10 beers then I'll pay for your meal'. I did it right at the end and then somehow staggered home blindly... all I remember is that one guy put me on the right train and then some random Japanese salaryman asked for my station, made sure I got off there and pointed me in the direction of my apartment so that all I had to do was waddle forward. Good times!
Anyhow the next day I was struggling a bit. While waiting for my ~3 hour bullet train I met this random Welsh dude who called himself 'Taffy'. We had a 1 hour wait and were using the same train so the guy was like 'maaaaate you're Aussie, you'll love a beer!!!' I drank ~4 pints with him to be nice as he kept buying them (and a few cans on the train). However, I couldn't stand the smell of alcohol for months after that. Felt soooo frigging putrid!!!
Anyhow, enjoy a few bottles of Jizz-brau on the house. Great for a hangover
I do have a 'blackbook' with Sportsbet but was too silly to include him.
I appreciate any hesitance to 'tip' your own horse, it can be a no-win situation, pardon the pun.
We used to have a syndicate of 6 of us when I lived in the bush (called the 6 Pack ). Owned a few, our best neddy won 7 races up the country.
Never made it to the smoke despite my urgings. Holy Shit though did we paint some towns red....great times.
Enjoy the sip.
What was the good one you owned called Jaxxx ??? Ive attached the replay of Taramansours win beneath
Lara Native was his name. Only a bushie but we still had some fun with him. When we got out of him, he raced for a bit over the coast with no success and made his record look worse than it probably should have been.
You will have to get amongst that ownership group trackside soon? I heard Stokesy mention Country Cups which I was wondering whether that might be your target.
I've dabbled in a couple of racehorse syndicates in a past life.
Our trainer's only claim to fame was that she descended from a famous circus family and once trained a winning 200-1 shot at Rosehill.
The first horse we had won a couple of barrier trials (one in record time), and it was sent out as favourite for a maiden race at Randwick. Anyway, it plodded around a heavy track and finished at the back of the pack. EDIT: I've just done a bit of research and discovered that our first syndicated horse was related to the 200-1 winner mentioned above.
The next one we had never did anything of note except get arthritis after about 3 ordinary barrier trials.
I was really into horseracing (gambling) back in the day.
I remember when they first brought out the superfecta. It was typically the last race of the day. I had a $1 bet and sat back and listened to my first 7 picks finish in the order that I selected them. Splitting 8th and 9th took forever and the racing program went off air for the greyhounds and they still hadn't managed to figure it out. I raced down to the tab, just as they were putting up the results.
I managed to back 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 9th (beaten out of 8th by half a nose)!!!!
The superfecta paid about $140,000 and my 9th placed horse was at longer odds that the 8th placed horse. Oh well...I never bet on the superfecta again.
It must be in my blood, my 2x great grandfather was a racing steward at Wollongong Turf Club and he then applied for a job as a race starter for the AJC at Randwick. He didn't get it but ended up as a race starter at Canterbury (back in the day when they dropped a rope).

1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.
I see he's going round tomorrow at Caulfield. Big odds, any each way chance Mr. Walker?
Good luck anyway, always exciting times.
This thread was fun to re-read too
Yes I had a laugh going through it as well As for tomorrow I’d think1400 is too short60kgs a 7 year old first up and the outside barrier don’t help either But it’s last trial was good and the horse looks well Stackhouse on is interesting, that alone tells me he is going well I will be happy if he runs home well the last 200 tomorrow and pulls up well I will say stranger things than Taramansour winning first up over 1400 have happened in racing
