That said you're right... that's sorta where the Greens are at right now. They've pretty much decided that:

      - 'The west' caused all of this. You can't trust any western governments because they all lie to us.

      - Okay time to freestyle now. We're doomed and western democracies are all heavily broken/corrupt. Once you hold these simple beliefs, they can be jack-knifed to 'prove' anything that you like...
Yeah he seems to be left wing when it comes to Australian politics but then with his Russia love, well Putin is neither left nor right. He’s a Nationalist autocrat. Sometimes he appears to be conservative right wing and sometimes socialist left wing, but overall Putin is probably best defined as a Nationalist. I expect to be corrected and lectured to soon though, no doubt.

Are you trying to say communist China is a far right dictatorship?

        • And just how might Labor have done that with such a hostile media MR? Apart from the LNP making an innocuous request a "get Albo" mission, Murdoch behaved disgracefully as we've come to expect. Of course he is on a joint mission to bring down the government. As I've said, he will now start the mantra of "money squanderers indifferent to cost of living suffering"and the Sheeple will, no doubt, fall into line.

Why do you always back down MR. You were right it was/is a Rave of the most uninformed kind as most our Sky correspondents' posts are. You weren't "being lazy", you said it like it is but the moment an old white man objects, you defer in a most unseemly way and, as a result, feminism takes a sizeable backward step on this site and ol' Jax has an undeserved win. Woman up girl!

Thanks for the rev up Paddo. I’ll take that on board.

See you voted No as well. You started this thread in fact. I ended up voting YES. There are so many No voters on this thread with very strong opinions about why they voted no and who don’t hold back in letting their opinions show. Posters that I really like too. It’s hard when you end up disagreeing with them on a social or political point. I don’t like the conflict. I don’t like being told that I’m woke or whatever. It just makes me feel very uncomfortable.

I think a lot of complaints were that they didn’t understand the detail, that more detail was needed. But I think a lot of people don’t understand how the Constitution actually works. They don’t understand that it’s just a set of guiding principles and you cannot put that sort of detail in it. That you can’t pre-empt what advice may or may not be needed in the future. More could have been done to address that misunderstanding. It’s too late now though. I think the ALP were just complacent and thought all their celebrities promoting the Yes vote would get it over the line.

I’ve never once Personally I’ve never once commented or more so been critical on yours or anyone else’s decision to vote Yes

I know you haven’t because I couldn’t make my mind up for ages. But just like the final result in the poll, there’s definitely more passionate no voters in this thread. I don’t have a strong enough will for this sort of thing to go head to head with that many once I decided that my opinion was a yes. It’s all on me. I’m not blaming anyone else here. I just don’t have the confidence to speak up when the majority are on the other side. In fact I have done so in the past in the pen, and the conflict just upset me so much that I’m very wary about getting involved in political discussions again when I’m in the minority. I’m also in a women’s forum and it’s amazing how similar my views are on a range of political and social discussions to everyone there so maybe it’s a gender thing.

                          • Fair enough being yourself is always best. I’ve said before I grew up in a family where politics and Current Affairs were always discussed, people didn’t always agree with one another which made it interesting As I was one of the youngest that taught me about balance in such matters

When I was young I’d often sit there saying nothing just hearing the differing opinions taking them in and forming my own views. Eventually as I got a bit older I spoke up. I think due too this I won’t back away from a political differnce of opinion and have no fear of speaking up even if I’m in the minority

Yeah I’m interested in the discussion too. I find it interesting and mentally stimulating. I’m intelligent and all and like to think about these things and not be a Paddo ‘sheeple’ which is why I enter these threads. But some topics like this one get very hot. There’s lots of aggressive language and photo bombing propaganda from a few and like I said I’ve been burned in the Chookpen before when I’ve gone out on a limb. Men when they’re that passionate about politics behave differently to women. I also have told posters how I ended up voting so I have made that clear knowing I’m in the minority and siding with Izzy and Paddo. Oh I will also say when it comes to my own integrity or standing up for myself when I feel I’ve been wronged or unfairly treated or my family, I will always speak up. I wouldn’t have got through life if I didn’t.
