Stop putting yourself down MR. You did the right thing, you're on the right side of history, didn't you read the Ranald McDonald piece? When the well off intelligentsia vote "yes", you know that something has got to the hoi polloi, most of whom just followed the Sky lead first or second hand. Some dills in Penrith feared that aboriginal families would set up camp in their backyards - really?
You can't pick the Sheeple either. Before the 2019 election, I dined with a dapper fella and his equally well heeled wife both of them from Leichhardt (Albos electorate). Both expressed fear of the Chinese airport at a mining site in Western Australia. Fatso from Queensland had made a thing of it. What a coupla meatheads they turned out to be despite appearances. Couldn't engage with them at all after that.
We are at the mercy of such dunderheads on any important issue and that amounts, pretty much, to Murdoch/LNP rule. It was Murdoch who orchestrated the fall of Turnbull moulding the tories in his own Right Wing image, based as it plainly is on self interest.
The NO vote just identifies the Sheeple and where they live (it was no surprise) but it didn't throw much light on why they voted as they did. Mostly they would not have known themselves. It's a "Lumpenproletariat" to quote Engels - roughly translated as stupid. Don't respect their vote MR, that only legitimises the assumption that the ordinary bloke and sheila sat down like Herman Pipesucker in deep consideation of "for and against" - They didn't, they wouldn't know their arse from their elbow about anything that requires the merest amount of critical analysis and they wouldn't have wanted to miss MAFS.

Australia dodged a bullet with the defeat of the voice referendum. I was so happy to see
the true racists, Pearson, Langton, Mayo and co drowning in their own tears. Anyone who voted yes are absolute imbeciles. Albanese will be voted out of office and so he should be. He will go down as Australia's worst pm. One day I'd like to see Jacinta Price become Australia's first Aboriginal PM.

There is also no need to pretend that Jacinta Price will ever become anything that she already is- i mean Australia accept a female aboriginal PM? You're dreaming

It was odd what happened. REALLY odd and I'm glad this thread still exists as its title and first few pages consist of me dispelling BLATANT misinformation then being told by the spreaders of it 'oh well... I'm voting no anyway because I think Albo's the worst PM ever'. IMO anybody who spread misinformation or persuaded others to change their vote to 'no' by using misinformation should be ashamed. I don't care if people voted no and are transparent why (whether it be because 'white men shoulda asked us in 1788... not 2023! I don't accept the validity of the constitution' or because 'Albo is the worst PM ever' [i.e. you belong to the Liberal party and will be holding banners for them / Palmer... fine! Just tell us that your reasoning is purely political instead of spreading misinformation].
Back to para 1... in reviewing what just happened, my friends have noted that this is our Brexit/Trump moment. Conservative lobbyists used highly sophisticated misinformation campaigns to get the result the wanted & cause division (over a matter that originally had bipartisan support, something Dutton made it VERY clear he wasn't gonna provide no matter what changes were made).
I don't like claims that 'we are more educated, so knew better', particularly from Canberrans. However, one thing Canberrans do have is that most people understand how government works (i.e. the structural details) enough to immediately know how disgracefully wrong all of the misinformation was. I think that's why Canberra voted 'yes'. None of the misinformation lined up. It was so easily refutable (see my first few pages).

You personally may, but you are in the minority of those who voted NO. The majority of those who voted No did so in what they led to believe was in their own best interests- the fear of the unknown wins out.
However we live in a democracy, the NO vote won- convincingly. So we move on. I really believe nothing will change, but will be pleasantly surprised if it does. Don't hold your breath on Jacinta Price changing anything.....a proven opportunist with a keen sense of understanding which side of her bread the butter is smeared on. A future PM? Yeah sure

This is something that had bipartisan support right until Mr Potato Head had a word with his powerbrokers and realised that they were serious about running a misinformation campaign to spoil what woulda been an EASY 'yes' with bipartisan support.

There was misinformation from both side. You chose not to see that.

Thats simply the main reason. It's out of a sense of egalitarianism and not wanting to enshrine victimhood in our founding document for any Aussie.
Thats from talking to and interacting with a lot of people in the week leading up to polling day. And talking with indigenous friends, family and colleagues.
You've got it wrong mate. Or moreso the Yes architects are showing no humility or sense of cooperation post referendum, and trying to build false division that just doesn't exist. They are poor representatives of their people. Need to be better.
Jacinta proposed a RC into sexual abuse in Indigenous remote communities last week, and the Greens, Labor and Pocock opposed it. Wiow, just wow only days after a referendum. She was in tears later. I hope the bastards don't grind her down.
You seem a little bitter and misguided. I probably wont engage much further with you on this.

Sat the 14th of October,in the year of our Lord 2023AD.....will be remember as a GLORIOUS moment that People power and true believers of freedom and democracy WON against a truly ****wit of a PM, the corporations, the corporate media, sellout Celebs, virtue signaling woke wankers and academic activist who really know nothing about Aboriginal issues or about anything really.
VIVA THE REVOLUTION....DEATH TO WOKEISM...
