OH MR The Google search and explanation was due to your comment of not being sure what it meant Notice the mention of the word google search saw Sally fly in and post straight after

As for the rest I would not want it any other way

Oh ok. I was on such a roll I didn't pick up on that. I think Salvo coming in at that time was just a coincidence. He is after all on the 'correct' side of this debate - mine! Even though more than 60% of Australia disagreed.

I think your posts sum up the No Vote misinformation campaign perfectly.

It was pretty clear that it was an advisory group and that parliament was not bound in any way, shape, or form, to implement via legislation or government policies any of the Voice recommendations.

And the High Court cannot overturn statute laws made by Parliament or force Parliament to enact any statute laws from any recommendations from any group, including the Voice.

Electorate education levels, household income, birthplace, and age were key factors.

Anyway, there are other ways to get this through before a future second referendum: state and territory governments treaties and voices to parliament.

For instance, the Minns government has a mandate for this from the last state election.

Whether it takes another 5 or 10 or 15 years, it will be enshrined in the constitution.
You wanted just over 3% of the population to vote on a constitutional amendment? Sorry mate, democracy don't work that way.

And Aussies will never support such a proposal in our founding document. After Albo got his bum handed to him in a bowl, it will be a game pollie that goes anywhere near a referendum in the foreseeable future.

You can't just have only indigenous people voting on it Salvo. That's not how democracy works. You may as well not have a referendum at all if that's the case. But I agree with you that there was a lot of misinformation out there from Dutton etc and Albo should have done better to counter that.

I'm not sure, for example, what the difference is between the FNP voice and a lot of the community. Industry, corporations, religious groups, and assorted lobby groups that have open-door access to Ministers (federal, state, and territorial), Premiers, Chief Ministers, and even Prime Ministers to advocate and lobby on behalf of their constituents, ultimately shaping and defining the government's legislation and policies on whatever these groups are advocating for.

It has to be noted that Government Legislation and Policy is heavily influenced by such "lobby" groups mentioned above.

I would assume there has been a raft of legislation that has been passed in both state and federal parliaments that you have not agreed with or had a say on, as this is not always flagged as something a party will legislate for if elected.

At least you would know what the purpose of the FNP voice is and what is discussed, as you would never know what is discussed behind closed doors with the others, including what agreements and "donations", are made to progress these.

The voting by age demographics show that it can be successful in the future though - The Majority of 18-40' s voted Yes and the majority of future voters (under 18's) will more than likely vote Yes too.
