I'm genuinely sorry that you feel that way Andy. Funny, but I didn't have you in mind when slagging off at the "Noes", You might have discussed your reasons previously, I came in late. No doubt your decision was based on thoughtful consideration. There were people, after all, who said not enough, nothing less than a Treaty - I bet Jax loves the Yothu Yindi beat. I can picture him on the disco round at Merrylands with a few on board, arms aloft - but I digress, perhaps you could reiterate? Not all "No" followed a Party line and made things political. That's what Izzy's saying, it should be an "unpacking" not a slagfest like seeing Souffs fans off at the game. There are things to discuss here - Izzy raised the Constitution and its sacred script status when 90% wouldn't know the first thing about it.

Too right mate. That’s the point I’ve been trying to make but it’s been lost and interpreted as an attack on the YES voters. It’s not.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion and a vote and although we don’t all vote the same way, we need to be respectful of each others right to have a say without labelling, name calling and derogatory speech.

Bob Hawke and Gough Whitlam would have convinced the majority to vote Yes, Albo unfortunately couldn't sell cold drinks and ice cream to anyone, even on a hot day.

Ive said very little after the result To be honest I’ve never been happy I was forced to make such a decision one way or another and was very close to saying a big Fcuk you I’m not playing your games to the govt and not voting at all

Yep and many thought it better to cop the fine instead of being forced to dummy vote which would be counted as a yes anyway.

In reality, the defeat of the first referendum attempt for the constitutional recognition of FNP was just another shameful day in Australia's European Colonial history, and there have been plenty of these days since the time of the invasion.

I think if Albo was smarter, he could have said if it was a yes vote, then there would be an additional public holiday, as I am sure that would have swung a few more to vote yes.

Most voters didn't have a clue what they were actually voting on, but to give them a sweetener such as an additional public holiday would have made a difference.

Not even the No campaign of lies and misinformation could counter that.

There needs to be a serious discussion about the 26th of January being maintained as Australia Day or Invasion Day as well.
