Absolutely i supported the WA government's decision to lockdown the border. Its what the majority of West Aussies wanted-they wanted their businesses up and running. To say businesses were bankrupted and people lives ruined was just 100% wrong- it was the opposite. The WA government looked after those who relied on tourism because they had the funds to do so- the states economy was still moving and they were the only state who turned in profits during the covid years- and made a gain for the Federal government

The right wing media completely misread it and carried on like the people of WA were locked up against their will (of course the Liberal state of Tasmania was spared of criticism)-and they started playing the emotion card showing those who couldn't get back into WA for funerals and the like- its unfortunate but it was the absolute minority who were affected.

Then you got that buffoon Clive Palmer who wanted the borders open for his own good and made out he was the saviour of West Aussies vowing to set them free-he totally misread the wishes of the WA citizens. All he did was elevated McGowans popularity after taking him to court. The letter that Scomo wrote for Palmer as a reference to use in the trial really sealed Scomo's fte in WA. Again totally misread the mood in WA

I was in Perth for the Federal election and Palmer and the United Party had billboards everywhere-especially on major roads. Well he found out that 99.999% of West Australia hate his guts for tryog to open the borders.

Now the worst of Covid is over and we move on. My sister in law worked in covid ward of Liverpool hospital as a ER doctor for 15 months and ended up having 6 months off- but she back at work at RPA. Its over and we move on
Wow...thats some way out thinking mate. 697 days for a single state within an island nation was a worldwide record for "border" restrictions. Stuff like this made us a laughing stock on the national stage.

It's the Pallashay line... "Queensland hosthpitals are for Queenslanders only". Meanwhile a bub dies just on the nsw side of the border thanks to this policy.

Any thoughts about those loved ones separated for almost 2 years who couldn't visit loved ones or return home? Livelihoods and family relationships and milestones trashed? Wearing masks outside?? No school for kids??

Insane policies in a free country.

At a minimum these cnuts need to be held accountable by a proper Royal Commission as I mentioned in a separate thread.

I'm pleased your family enjoyed the impositions and thrived, but sadly that isn't everyone.

Sometimes you need to look past your political ideologies and just do the right thing.

Businesses wanted their business shut over a fake bug? hahaha....la la land stuff, off with the pixies

99.999% hated palmer..??? What a stupid baseless comment...show facts to back this up...it's all in ur delusional head.

And another sheeples who probably watches ABC news and "the project" and thinks MSM is right winged. Farging LOL

I swear all u collective group think leftard sheeples share the same one brain cell amoeba....not an individual thought between you all.

If u lived in 1930s/40s Nazi Germany u would be supporting lockdown of Jews and extermination of them...and calling it the law.

What a extreme Ignoramus...It must SUCK to be U...
Once again i present to you the Chookpen's village idiot!

WA has a population of 2.6 million people, and the United Party received 33,000 votes. Michaela Cash acknowledged that the Liberals' support for Palmer's bid to open the border had "proved costly." On a state level, Labor has 53 seats in the legislative assembly, the Liberals have 2, the National Party has 4 seats, and Palmer's Party is not represented anywhere.

Of course, every extreme right-wing deplorable unhinged rant must include references to the MSM, Nazi Germany, a conspiracy theory, and, strangely, sheep. You didn't disappoint

Jack, my old man got covid and although after being covid free after 10 days his body started shutting down. My 2 brothers and sister in WA had to make a decision, come for his final few days and risk a extended stay to get back. My sister came and had to apply 3 times to get back while my brothers stayed behind to run the family business. I dont blame Gladys or the NSW Liberal government for letting Covid in- no one had a handbook on how to handle a 100 year pandemic. Nor do i blame McGowan for shutting the borders to keep Covid out- as did the Liberal South Australian and Tasmanian premiers. A Royal commision into politicians at he top of both leading parties at state and federal level- will come to nothing.

I mean we still dont know who let the passengers disembark from the Ruby Princess that led to the massive spread- Gladys blamed Dutton, Dutton blamed Gladys, then they both blamed some public servant, then it was the captain of the ships fault....point is it doesn't matter now. It's time to move on.

Im not really up to date on Victorian and Queensland politics. Personally i dont think anyone should be Premier of a state for longer than 2 terms. Dan walked and if Ana P does run again im predicting she will get rolled

Can't answer basic questions so just resorts to lame insults haha.

Irrelevant how many votes the U.P gets...we are dealing with a particular issue of lockdown...it's not a party vote u ignoramus.

Not everyone wishes to bend over, touch toes and take it up the popper snooper from Dandrews or MaGowan creep.

          U are such a sad sodomite...extreme lunatic.

I'm sorry to hear about your Dad mate.

No family should have been put through that, and have to make those decisions due to bureaucratic bastardry.

I still think a RC is the least families deserve, and would give us a blueprint on how to handle such a situation again, and not make the same mistakes.

Thanks Jack. Interestingly they listed the cause of death as multiple organ failure, which was technically correct. However it was covid that started the ball rolling- he was going great until it got him. Seeing it first hand was unbelievable-it like drowning in your own lungs. Gave me the shits when people said " they exaggerate the numbers. If you get hit by a car crossing the road and you got covid they list covid as th cause of death" . Misinformation was off the charts.

I dont think we will see another pandemic in our lifetime. This one has run the same course as the first one did 100 years ago. I think if there was to be another we will already be better prepared, providing its the same same type of virus. Now i look back and there were decisions the governments made that i agreed with that turned out to be wrong-and decisions made that i didn't agree with that turned out to be right. I. honestly dont believe there were any of leading politicians from either of the 2 major parties that thought they will use the pandemic for their own political gain- they were doing what they thought was right in a situation that the whole world was handling differently. Unfortunately there will always shit life events that dont come with a manual with instructions on what to do or how to act. So for me i let it go- its over. Enjoy life while you can

It was a crazy time. I thought the 2000 Olympics was going to be the landmark event of my lifetime.....then came 9/11....then came the Pandemic. Thank God for 2002,2013,2018,2019 and of course 2024!
