Me no understand a sense of nationalism so strong that the community is able and willing to form sizeable paramilitaries to fight (on behalf of the people) for a principle. I can't relate to Jax's patriotism. My brother dodged the racist war in Viet by simply presenting a doctor's certificate certifying that he had chronic Rhinitis. For me our real Viet heroes were the guys who went to jail rather than be a part of it.
How can you get that passionate about risking your existence? But people obviously do, in sufficient numbers. It's untrue to suggest that Hamas is not part of the community and widely embraced. I would be cleaned up pronto if it was not - give-ups everywhere.
.
It's untrue to suggest that Hamas is not part of the community and widely embraced.- im not suggesting it-i know it....and so does the entire Arab world, except for the country that sponsors them-Iran and other terrorist organisations. Hamas call for Jihad (which is part of their official charter) has been met with silence from the other middle east countries.
Widely embraced? You know this isn't the first time they kill Israelis ( 90 suicide bombers in Israel in the last 17 years) and when the Israelis retaliate Hamas go hiding in underground tunnels using Palestinian civilians as shields. Then when innocent Palestinians get killed the world comes down on Israel, who then back off.....and the cycle to start again.
This time Israel has had enough and are going to ignore the worlds plea for no retaliation. Again the innocent Palestinian civilians will bear the brunt of it all- and the most vulnerable people at that.
I don't agree with Israels ground offensive reply. I'm not a believer in replying with violence to violence. I'd be engaging a country like Turkey, who still have communication lines with Hamas, to get back the hostages and avoid having any more death of civilians. Easier said than done, as horrible as it sounds, hostages have worth.
Im. not sure why you are mentioning the Vietnam war. Donald Trump got a bogus doctors report for bone spurs to avoid being drafted. Makes him hero ?

This whole event has really exposed big holes in Israeli intelligence. Netanyahu political career will end sooner rather than later

Yeah but where are they? Dont think they are conveniently huddled all together in underground tunnels in the Gaza. When you have time to plan a major terrorist attack that catches your enemy off guard, you also have time to know what their response will be- and where you should be. Its not unrealistic for Hamas to be split into Syria, Iran, Lebanon, saudi Arabia and even Egypt. Even the call by Hamas for its citizens to not evacuate could be a Cameron Munster type dummy to make Israel think levelling out Gaza will be effectively getting to most of Hamas.

The sort of emotional, ignorant and unquestioning stridency that marked the referendum is evident here. Randy suggesting that Hamas is on it's own and has no popular support is ludicrous. MR clutches the pearls and virtue signals/protests that she hates violence - is that all you've got? And 13 again shows his thoroughgoing dependence on News Ltd for all of his opinions.
The following potted history of Palestine should be read and, hopefully, responded to thoughtfully.

Well said Eddie. If both parties took their imaginary friends out of this they could clearly leave each other the hell alone.

When you think of all the deaths and destruction that is down to religion, christians included, it's a wonder it hasn't been banned.
Religions will never be banned but I take your point. People are searching for purpose and community and religions often provide that. And many times thats fine as long as fear and violence aren't the drivers. But on the negative side there are those that still use religion to dominate others for power and self gratification.
Some cultures exist in the 21st century but with medieval values. A disastrous cocktail.
