Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar was trying to escape to the north when he was killed by the Israel Defense Forces in Gaza on Wednesday, Israeli military spokesperson Daniel Hagari said at a news briefing Thursday.
“I believe he was running, moved from an underground compound to houses trying to escape north to a more secure compound,” Hagari said, adding that IDF troops continued operating at the compound in Tal al Sultan in Rafah, where he was eventually killed, without knowing at the time that he was there.

“We continued to operate to check terrorists are not running from this region,” Hagari said.

Israeli forces found Sinwar with a vest, a gun and 40,000 shekels, the IDF spokesperson said.

He went on to say Sinwar’s DNA was found in tunnels a few hundred meters from where the six hostages were killed earlier this year.

Yeah TBH it'll only escalate tension with the way martyrs...etc work. The cynic in me says that this 'leader' likely ran towards battle and sacrificed himself as a way of revving up support for their mission. IMO it's unlikely he was trying to escape Palestine...

Well surprise surprise.. the inevitable terrorist attack occurs again on home soil following 14 months of emboldened anti-semitism. It's a mix of heartbreak and seething rage at our officials for me, and most Aussies I think It all started with the failure to stamp hard and early on the October 9th race riots at the Opera House. Since then we've had weekly hatespeech marches supporting a terrorist regime, people attacked and spat on in the street, intimidation via our universities, school children bullied and scared to wear their uniforms in public. When the anti-semites stage a protest against a speaker or an event, its the Jewish Aussies being moved on or arrested. Seriously...it beggars belief. Following the atrocities of the Holocaust how in Gods name could this be happening today in Australia??

I've linked Sharri Marksons report from inside the holy place, you can see the extent of the fire bomb internally. It's a miracle and dumb luck that no one was killed. She has been incredible in her raw reporting of the anti semitic happenings since October last year. As has Senator James Paterson, we need him in a key gig.

Politically its probably Albaneses death knell you would think. His response has been weak, slow and embarrassing. He still hasn't visited the site of the attacks and was playing tennis yesterday instead. Yep a Labor donors meet Sat night then a good ol hit of tennis the next day. Bewdy mate...some are calling it his 'Hawaii' moment.

Israel needs to be alert to what has happened in Syria with the despot Assad regime being overthrown - Proscribed Terrorist groups have taken over Syria and may well fight each other for control of Syria or join up and attack Israel via the Golan Heights.

Iran with their backing of many of these Terrorist groups need to be watched as well.

Want to give a rap to Chris Minns here. He stands like a beacon of hope at the moment in light of yet another anti-semitic attack in Sydney's East overnight. He was clear and unambiguous about condemnation of the hate that exists in a small yet dangerous element of our community. He spoke of his independent relationship with the Israeli Ambassador and commitment to him to end this violence and public displays of hate. He was asked the inevitable questions about the Federal Government's rhetoric and weakness on the issue of anti-semitism enabling this environment of hate, and answered as best he could, separating his own independent response in NSW. He even commented on the outrageous statements of the piece of filth that is Penny Wong labelling Israel alongside China and Russia. He was clear that such comparisons of Israel are literally worlds apart. We need to start seeing serious charges and sentences for these criminals to serve as a deterrent and make a clear statement about Australia's values.
