The great pity was/is that the line was not extended to Bondi Beach.
The 1967 plan was to run it through to Kingsford from Bondi Jct with stops at Charing Cross, Frenchmans Rd, Randwick, UNSW and Kingsford then the review in 1976 recommended it terminate at Bondi Jct.
I can still remember some trains displaying the network map had the extension to Kingsford on it.
In 1999 there were plans to extend to Bondi Beach but it got shelved.

Also even earlier Bradfield had plans to run the railway out east and also in 1947 there were plans of two lines, one would eventually end up at North Bondi and the other out past the SCG to Kingsford.

We have actually shopped at Cosco's even when back in Sydney - Whole Tray of Lamingtons and Cinnamon Rolls and some other items they sell in Bulk - Even their very large Birthday/Celebration cakes that you can order on line and pick up in store

The problem with Costco though is you have to pay an annual membership in order to shop there. Which brings me back to our price gouging duopoly, as Coles / Woollies have also now introduced their annual membership scheme where you can only get certain specials / discounts if you pay the membership! Then there’s all these cameras at the self service checkouts, which you’re practically forced to use because they have cut staff, and now they’re introducing exit barriers because apparently we can’t be trusted not to steal their mega profits.

I don’t have an issue with the $60 membership cost, for a $1 a week, there are some good buys in there, the wine is usually a few bucks cheaper, mussels, pippis and meridith valley goats cheese are at fantastic prices and there a plenty of good value items depending on taste,

I am one of the rare customers that doesn’t take their oversized trolleys when I walk in, I usually only buy 4 or 5 items per week.

To be honest I’ve never set foot inside a Costco, mainly because you need to be a member. But if it works for you then that’s great. I know there’s a lot of people like you who love it. For me it’s the membership and the fact it’s a fair way to travel to get to.

The friends we often house sit for are members at Costco, even though there are only 2 of them they seem to go berserk when they shop there and buy so much, they are often giving stuff away or when we have house sitted you look at both of their properties they have at least 5-6 packets of the same thing and getting close or gone over the best before date in their pantries, to me that is a very false economy, they may be paying cheaper prices for some products but are then either giving it away or throwing it out so it cost way more in the long run.

Looks like milanja knows how to shop properly there but some people just walk in with their trolleys and see the saving in bulk and then go berserk.

100%, I agree. You’re not really saving money in the long run if you’re just tossing out items or giving them away. That’s another thing with the big two at the moment too, in that they seem to be replacing their usual specials with buy 2 for $X or 3 for $Y offers. I find that really annoying as well.

Yes i find the 2 or 3 for offers annoying also unless it something i use a lot of like tin tomatoes or packet pasta but even then i wont always get sucked into buying them.

It would be good if you could actually walk into a Costco and check it out to see whether its worth while for you or not but you can't unless you are with a member,
milanja mentioned about the seafood and i would like to check out what they had as i am very particular about buying seafood and apart from maybe a bit of salmon i do not buy any seafood from ColesWorth.

You can easily MR, there is an entry and an exit point right next to each other, walk in through the exit side and head towards the cash registers. Then just walk in, nobody would know if you just went to the toilet or ate a hotdog and pizza, I usually walk in this way(even though I’m a member) as I grab the $1.99 hotdog and drink before I go shopping there. You don’t even have to be a member to order the trashy fast food

if anyone was to question you(which they never will) you can just say you are going to the membership/returns counter which gives you a reason to walk in the exit side anyway.

The other thing MR is that you could go at a time when milanja goes and he could show you the ins and outs. Yes the $1.99 hot dog, you are getting into Ikea territory there
