The opening night of the ABBA exhibition at the Powerhouse Museum many years ago IKEA provided the meatballs as part of the food, they would come in little cardboard packages with three meatballs in them each, so many were left behind, usually i can eat just about anything but these were just terrible, the foyer where the exhibition was launched had so many of the cardboard containers with meatballs left in them that people had just dumped. it was the only low part of a good night.

At least with a Bunnings sausage sandwich you know what you are getting, white bread, a fatty sausage and choice of sauce and onion if you want them, hardly gourmet but it fits the bill and the money goes to good causes.
Believe me a Bunnings sausage sandwich is Gold compared to a Ikea hot dog.

Agree. I don’t really like hotdogs anyway so I won’t be trying either Costco or ikea, but $1.99 just sounds really bad.

I still love a good hot dog, i usually get one with mushy peas, tomato sauce and cheese sauce from Harry's Cafe De Wheels.
If i make them at home i now use Rocco's smoky bacon and cheese sausages which you can get at Coles, they are very similar to the type of sausage you get at a gourmet hot dog place and i put shredded cheese, mustard sauce and tomato sauce on mine and sometimes sauerkraut if i have it in the fridge.

When you mentioned seafood, you mentioned pippies and mussels, do they actually sell fresh pippies or are they they frozen ones that you can pick up at a lot of Asian supermarkets ?

They are the live pippis and mussels in the cryovac, 2 kg mussels are about $12 and the goolwa 1kg pippis are $20.

both are live, the pippies are not there all the time(supply and demand?), but mussels are there every week

That's good to know re mussels and pippies, i have noticed Woolworths selling the Goolwa pippies in a 400g pack but they are already cooked.
I have been lucky when i have wanted pippies the Asian fish shop in Marrickville have had them for $24 a kilo which is cheaper than a lot of places and they have been good. $12 is good for 2 kg of mussels, i usually pick up a 1 kg pack for $9 but have seen them often for $12-15 for 1 kg pack. If i only need a handful for a seafood pasta i will just buy loose ones from usually the Asian fish shop or Faros where they are $6- $8 loose a kilo.

And sorry i should have asked whether it was OK with you before i mentioned that MR should check out Costco with you, my head is in a fog at the moment.

Thanks milanja and the hotdogs sound slightly better than my imagination but only slightly. Horrie’s version sounds a lot better though, even for this non hotdog eater.
