  • A story of two teachers who murdered based on conspiracy theories...

Just sharing as old mate constantly shares opinions that teachers are all of superhuman intelligence/integrity and that none of his 'opinions' about global conflicts and climate change (all 'left-wing' though I find them 'right-wing' in substance) are conspiracies.

    https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-12-...rain/103086748

    > An investigation found that the pandemic, climate change, global conflicts and social disparity contributed to the Train trio’s beliefs.

    > The school teachers, with a glossy veneer of respectability, had retreated to a world where they needed to build a camouflaged sniper’s hide from which to ambush and gun down police and their kindly neighbour.

    Hardly a shock.

There are numerous studies showing that 'progressive liberals' are overwhelmingly soulless, miserable creatures.

I think he's arguing that this article relates to 'far-right' conspiracy theorists rather than 'far-left' conspiracy theorists.

                  However in substance:

                  - Is a doomer conspiracy theory that the environment's farked beyond repair and this is leading to a final stand-off where we're gonna have to fight when 'the wolf is at your door' in the category of 'far-left' or 'far-right'?

                  - Is being a cooker who refuses vaccines on the basis that they are implanting mind control devices inside people's bodies considered 'far-left' or 'far-right'?

                  - Is being pro-China / Russia being 'far-left' or 'far-right'? (Noting, old mate thinks China's a far-left, socialist paradise... he does not accept that it's an authoritarian dictator).

IMO this is why we need to look at the substance of such theories rather than trying to link them to mainstream political ideologies. More often than not, conspiracy theories that can seem left-wing (for example) will become right-wing because they're underpinned by originalist / conservative thinking. For example when 'Libertarians' claim they are anti-war because their preference is that the USA form a civilian army where everybody has a gun to defend themself (and privateers are legitimised for global conflicts). This is not an opposition to guns/violence... it's a blanket opposition to the government raising tax revenue, which extends to doing so for the purpose of things like police / defence.

I just have a thing about teachers and the education system.

Particularly in America. Just look at those 3 witches who refused to acknowledge that antisemitism needs to be stamped out at their colleges.
