Ahhh yes!! You've read the 1997 "Bringing Them Home" report that was tabled in the Australian parliament that stated betweenone in three and one in 10 indigenous children were forcibly removed from their families and communities between 1910 and 1970. So lets just call in the 1 in 10 figure and say its a myth! Imagine if 1 in 10 families in Australia had their kids taken off them these days....no big deal hey?

I can't see why we would change such a date. Its locked in the consciousness and diaries of so many proud and grateful citizens who all gained their citizenship on this day. Its a very important and emotional time for them. Not to mention all the Aussies accustomed to celebrating it on this day. Respect.

I grew up with a boy who was taken from his parents and fostered by a white family. He was accepted and I don't remember him copping any racism at school. He was not the brightest kid but he was sure a fine young batsmen for the local cricket club. Unfortunately he died at the age of 21 in a motorcycle accident.

I had a look at some of that teaching material and it is designed to churn out activists.
