  • Suggestions for a 32km run from the CBD?

I'm staying at our pad near Allianz for the week (school holidays) and have been doing my marathon training every day. It was surprisingly difficult for me to find a 23km route the other day without hitting too many roads and it gets boring (plus over-crowded) doing laps of Moore/Centennial Parks.

My 23km involved basically shooting down Darlinghurst Rd to the Cross, wrapping around Harry's Cafe, Realising the Botanical Gardens has an opening/closing time (never knew - so had to go around), heading across the Cahill to the Bridge, going a few km past Luna Park and then heading back. It was a nice little trek but IMO I can do better.

Any tips for a 32km loop of the eastern suburbs and CBD? I like the idea of going from Moore Park to Queens Park... down to the Waverley Cemetery and then heading along the beaches to Malabar before returning straight down Anzac Pde. Once my son's asleep I'll plug that into Strava and see how many km it is.

Anybody got a better idea though? I'm trying to find long, uninterrupted strips as TBH the bridge run was a pain in the neck with so many road crossings.

    Open to ideas. Also...

    - Happy for others to join for the long for the whole/part. In Canberra I often jog to a more central suburb and then meet my regular crew there. Open to ideas if anybody wants to guide me around their local 10km loop (for example).

    - If I could have some limoncello along the way then that'd be greatly appreciated. That or biscotti and a ristretto at Tony and Bill's.

Tomorrow morning's running plan. Will start around Moore Park and do a grand tour of the eastern beaches. Decided to skip Maroubra as this will give me more hang-time in Bongdi and its lovely surrounds.

I'll be starting at 5am sharp. Would appreciate a few limoncello stations if anybody's available to assist with the run.

That almost looks like a map of our junior areas

I was going to suggest almost exactly this I wasn’t though sure if how many stoppages you would encounter due to lights and crossings

Good instinct. It was a pretty sweet morning jog as most of the lights were around Centennial Park and stuff (zero cars at ~5:30am). I picked a cruisy pace and just focussed on all views / sea breeze.

Great people too. Dunno how to quantify it but everybody was happy to smile and wave when I went past whereas Canberra be a bit more dense at times. Definitely glad I went for the tour...

I like to see Ism do a circuit run to each Sydney Teams leagues club or club and have a beer at each -
              • Manly
              • Norths
              • Roosters
              • Souths - South Juniors
              • Newtown - Marrickville RSL
              • Bulldogs
              • Dragons
              • Sharks
              • Wests Tigers
              • Parramatta
              • Penrith
I remember a British Journalist did this for Rugby League Week - didn't run of course - took the train and buses I think - 12 clubs back then - Balmain had a Leagues club back then.

You could run around our new stadium about 36 times
