I'm staying at our pad near Allianz for the week (school holidays) and have been doing my marathon training every day. It was surprisingly difficult for me to find a 23km route the other day without hitting too many roads and it gets boring (plus over-crowded) doing laps of Moore/Centennial Parks.
My 23km involved basically shooting down Darlinghurst Rd to the Cross, wrapping around Harry's Cafe, Realising the Botanical Gardens has an opening/closing time (never knew - so had to go around), heading across the Cahill to the Bridge, going a few km past Luna Park and then heading back. It was a nice little trek but IMO I can do better.
Any tips for a 32km loop of the eastern suburbs and CBD? I like the idea of going from Moore Park to Queens Park... down to the Waverley Cemetery and then heading along the beaches to Malabar before returning straight down Anzac Pde. Once my son's asleep I'll plug that into Strava and see how many km it is.
Anybody got a better idea though? I'm trying to find long, uninterrupted strips as TBH the bridge run was a pain in the neck with so many road crossings.
Open to ideas. Also...
- Happy for others to join for the long for the whole/part. In Canberra I often jog to a more central suburb and then meet my regular crew there. Open to ideas if anybody wants to guide me around their local 10km loop (for example).
- If I could have some limoncello along the way then that'd be greatly appreciated. That or biscotti and a ristretto at Tony and Bill's.
