IMO Biden's now sounding like a guy who's under a lot of pressure not to slip-up and it's psyching him out. A bit like when Kim Beazley called a press conference to mourn Karl Rove's wife.

What's ironic is that everything that comes outta Trump's mouth is so obnoxious that nobody cares about his gaffes/misinformation anymore... it's just assumed knowledge. Imagine for a second if his fans held him to the same standard :P
