Went to see the new Aussie film 'Not Suitable for Children' on Friday night and really enjoyed it. Quintisential Aussie flick filmed in and around Newtown. Well worth a view I reckon. A serious comedy would be the best way to describe it.

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy - Brilliant cast with Oldman at his best.
Safehouse - Ryan Reynolds/Denzel Washington. While not a Reynolds fan he was surprisingly good in this action flick.
A Few Best Men - Aussie flick about young love and the Liberal party. OLJ was great in this film I would call a good laugh.
Chook.

If you're looking for a superb doco you cannot go past The Fog of War. A one on one sit down with Robert McNamara -Sec of Def for JFK during the Cuban missile crisis and for Johnston in the escalation of the Vietnam war. I've watched it a number of times and it still sends chills up my spine.
McNamara also planned the bombing of Japan in the last years of WW2 and along with Air Force commander admit that had they lost the war they would have been tried as war criminals for fire bombing Tokyo burning to death 100,000 people in one night. A great doco.
Chook.

Was bored last night and flicking the channels on Fox....The Killer Inside Me....so so film about a Sherrif who is a psycho killer. This Killer also manages to get inside Kate Hudson and Jess Alba, whihc should appeal to John.
Stars Casey Affleck - must be brother of the more famous Ben - looks differnet but sounds annoyingly teh same.
Worth a squizz if youre not to serious.....6.5/10.
Just before that was Paradise Lost: Revelations - the sequel documentary revealing the events towards the appeal of teh West Memphis 3 convicted murders - who were accused and convicted wrongfully of teh murder of 3 children in 1994 - in teh state of Arkansas. This doco focused on the effort by a group believing the accused were innosent and the effort they put in to challenge the system, as the convictions were based on circumstantial evidence and a false or supposed police coerced admission by one of the accused who was borderline retarded.
After 18 years, they were released. Compelling. 8/10Last edited by melon....; 07-16-2012, 02:22 PM.Alcohol never solved any life problems.....then again neither did milk.

I'm with you in that I generally don't go and see the big budget movies, especially if they are not on at the Dendy. I don't enjoy going to the mainstream cimenas nowdays - yes I will admit I am a movie snob!
But when as a Dendy member I can go see a good film for around $11 and even enjoy a glass of vino if I feel like it why would I go anywhere else?

I'm now within walking distance too with my new job so I can easily go after work or on the weekends as I can just catch the ferry over. We also get discounts at several places including the Opera Bar so it's very worthwhile. They are screening a Led Zepplin concert and also a Rolling Stones one soon so I'm really looking forward to those. I saw Cold Chisel's "Ringside" there as well went it was released on DVD. Ah, things to do in the offseason...
So many movies to see, but unfortunately so little available time - even in the offseason!
