Not sure why the pile on for the Matilda's when you consider the USA and Germany were in their group so a tough ask to advance from this group. USA played Germany in the semi-final and won 1-0. USA won the gold medal with a 1-0 win over Brazil, and Germany won the bronze medal with a 1-0 win over Spain.

The Matilda's lost 2-1 to the USA.
