I saw that Australian athletes get $20k for a gold, 15k silver,10k bronze.thought that was pretty good, but it seems we are on the lower end of the pay scale.

not sure if in team sports if the 20k is split between all or they all get 20k.

Apparently the Italian boxer who forfeited against her "male" opponent was awarded £30,000 (or maybe it was £50,000).
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

However I learn that this Olympic boxer may not have been born with male genitalia as such but had all other male characteristics incl XY chromsomes. This is why "she" and another Olympic boxer were banned from the World Championships by the International Boxing Assoc. Yet they are allowed to compete against genuine female athletes. It's especially a concern with the physical combat sports such as boxing due to the physical danger. But also it doesn't allow female athletes to compete on an even playing field in any sport where strength, speed etc. are required.

Someone like Kath Deeves in our own country has been fearlessly tireless in exposing the danger and unfairness with men competing in women's sports. But, cos she's on the wrong side of the political spectrum, the left have tarnished her relentlessly.

        My point in a nutshell.
Apparently this occurs .001% in newborns. What that is in actual numbers, I have no idea, but what are the odds that two such people take up competitive boxing and make it to the Olympics?

Matty Ebden ad Johnny Peers won the Tennis Male Doubles Gold -Fine match with all three sets going to tie breakers - 3rd set first to 10 or 2 point advantage - 6-7 , 7-6 and 10-8

Interestingly they live only 1 street away from each other in Perth

And from a brickbat to a bouquet..

Channel 9s coverage last night flipping between about 5 or 6 sports on the main channel with good commentary was great. Especially loved the cycling vision and input. I must admit I watch the Tour De France just for the scenery...stunning.

I wanted to watch the cycling highlights on STAN today, but they're showing the full 7+ hours.

              How did the Aussies go?

I watched the entire match. I thought they were a chance, but Peers played well below his level earlier in the tournament so I was convinced they'd lose the match after they went down a set and a break. Peers was slow, he missed regulation volleys, couldn't get a return in to save his life and was only saved by his serving.

His world ranking is starting to tank and every 2nd week he seems to have a new partner so I doubt he'll be around much longer. Ebden has recently been world #1 and is still lightning quick on the court. It's time for him to ditch his regular tournament partner, who is now 44, and find someone a bit younger.

Apparently Max Purcell turned down the opportunity to represent at the Olympics, so Ebden suggested he be partnered with Peers. I'm over the moon that they won.

The decision to pair DeMinaur with Popyrin as the other doubles team was a head scratcher and was borne out by their early exit from the event.

Australia was briefly in 2nd position on the medal ladder last night. I wish I was quick enough to take a screen shot. It's their best ever first 8 days of an Olympic games and the first time they've ever won a Gold medal on each of those days.

I know in this instance you weren't referring to me- i hadn't posted anything in this thread.

Im just pointing out you often just have a crack at me and never my points. Its easy to set you off on it- eg like i can just state a fact that Trump faked bone spurs to avoid being drafted into the Vietnam war- then whooshka you take aim! Instead of saying i'm wrong you will tell me i should leave Australia LOL. Thats ok. Well i agree with you about transgenders in female sports-100%- so you can say something nice about me now!!
