Bit of a Chookpen clean out lately.

Threads being closed at the drop of a hat.
Posters being banned willy nilly.

I enjoy reading different opinions. Banning posters like Les, Ray, BBR ( yes even him) & others gives the place a sanitised feel.

What happened to freedom of speech?
Are we all supposed to talk & think the same way?

Unless it's derogatory or has violent under tones then why the need to remove.

You get worse bias & bad content on certain TV shows & radio stations these days.

That's exactly right Farian.

Admin, we're tolerant and play-on but, enough is enough when PM'S are received from disgruntled posters who've been abused.

I don't miss them.
Most of them are opposition fans who come on to stir the pot and piss youse off.

Honestly I think the moderation on here is first class. There's a LOT of general banter that goes under the bridge. In particular I think we're lucky that the forum's owners seem to just pay the bills and leave the rest to various trusted admins, which is a selfless act.

There's Gen Z alternatives to this forum which I don't have to name. IMO most on here (myself included) would be banned within a second for crimes such as 'owning an investment property', 'complaining about the refs' and 'intentionally misspelling Souffs'.

Some platforms can be over-moderated. I don't think this is one of them. Also it's not like some where (for example) AI bots track your movements to detect possible alts and/or accounts are linked to personal identifiers such as your phone number to prevent alts. I have no doubt that various banned members have quietly found their way back as alts. Got no way of proving it hut when an account with ~3 posts begins posting about my character as if they've known me on here for 15 years, it's a fairly good indication I reckon.

Yes from me as well.
I suspect thee are many people who visit this site and are reluctant to post, wary that they would be called a goose for some trivial inaccuracy.
Although I do enjoy the witty banter that occurs.
