Good on you mate. You may be surprised how your health improves after leaving the rat race. We've spoke about this before I know, and I exited stage left in August. My last gig was a Parole Officer and I actually enjoyed it compared to others I've had. But once I reached 60 the urge to say goodbye to hierarchy and bad bosses was too strong. And we all want that combination of health, time and $$ to enjoy a slice of life. And being a gambler and having no kittens to worry about, it was a no brainer. You never know what's around the corner.

Good for you too Jack. We’re pretty much retirees too now, with the other half retiring late June. We certainly have more time on our hands now and life is more relaxing with more time to do fun things like travelling. Only problem, for me anyway, is the increase in medical appointments which seems to come as you get older.

Also i wasn't planning for my DVT to flair up again , i had 6 weeks off on carers leave while the better half had the hip replacement and then rehab but just as that 6 weeks were up my leg became uncomfortable and swollen and had to have a ultrasound which showed the DVT had gotten larger again and was blocking the flow of my blood. Was not impressed with my previous vascular specialist who more or less said go away and it will all be right but i am happier with the specialist i am seeing now who wants to get down the cause of why it is happening, i see her again in a couple of days.

Thanks D....Mighty Rooster . Health is the key really, and mobility as we get older. And thats a combo of lifestyle, genetics and luck. I better not get into the spiritual aspect which suggests we "choose" our lives anyway, it's a bit deep for a thread entitled "the dribble thread".

Yep I remember you telling me about your old specialist who had a very carefree attitude. I’m glad you’re happy with your new one and hope things are improving with the leg. Goes to show women make better doctors hehe.

Yeah why are we having such meaningful conversations in the dribble thread anyway? Who started this nonsense of a proper chat about life, health and retirement and derailing the thread?
