What no thread for this occasion? Very disappointing……
Look on the bright side mightyrooster.. Different election admittedly but on Melbourne Cup Day, Kamala Harris will be president of the USA. And Jacks Fur Coat, Carlos Parra and Dr. Voodoo Man will all be crying in their pretzels because the election was rigged (again).
Still waiting for JFC to say who the three blind mice are. I can wait but wonder why he hasn't backed up his comment and named names? Maybe he can't?
"Do you expect me to talk"? "No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to die".

Hahaha I'm in Portugal and am sorta glad I'm away for it (don't have to vote either) as it's essentially a local council election that's stacked towards the left.
While I'm a progressive, I think the Greens get too much power and there's a reason why governments in other jurisdictions switch between left/right on a regular basis (plays a bit of a balancing act).
Can't say I'm watching this one closely. If we had high quality independents then I'd be keen to see a Clover Moore style ACT government. However most of the independents I've come across are just randoms who are bitter about niche issues.
I voted for Elizabeth Lee purely because she humanised politics when she gave the finger to the journo earlier this week.
Hahaha yeah I loved that!!!
Shoulda seen how triggered all the rusted on Greens voters got. Like how dare she give some biased journo the bird after they refuse to stop asking the same question over and over. The sassy face was awesome too...10/10 effort there

An absolute waste of Tax Payers money having a legislative assembly of 25 representing what is a Fed Government Department PS enclave of less than 500k - base remuneration is $ 188,798 for the ACT Assembly
Base remuneration of $ 188,798 plus Additional remuneration = Total Remuneration
Chief Minister - $ 207,678 - Total Remuneration - $ 396,476
Leader of the Opposition - $132,158 - Total Remuneration - $ 320,956
Deputy Leader of the Opposition - $37,760 - Total Remuneration - $ 226,558
Total farce - get rid of it- Ditto Northern Territory Assembly with the same 25 and a population of 254,263
Split ACT in half - 1/2 NSW and 1/2 Victoria and create a New Seat in NSW and Victoria in their State Parliaments and only 2 Federal Seats in NSW and Victoria in the Federal Parliament.
Ditto Northern Territory - Create a seat or 2 in South Australia's State Parliament and a seat or 2 only in the Federal Parliament

What? Split the ACT up? Way to upset us Ken Behrens Salvo.

Lol, I don’t have as much faith in the American people as you 007.
As for this thread, I just thought we’ve had whinging about Dictator Dan, Aunty Glad and Annastacia Howeveryouspellhername in the past, so why no love (hate) for the ACT?

To me, it wouldn’t have been the same without the facial expression. It added some real feeling to it.
Yes get rid of the ACT assembly gravy train - ACT Population is 472,803 - March 2024.
2020 - 273,143 voters
That's 10,925.72 voters per ACT Assembly member (25)
So the people of VIC and NSW decide what’s best for us locals? We’re not real people with our own issues and concerns? I don’t think so Salvo. We’re not all politicians living here in beautiful Canberra.

I think the NRL should decide what players the Atlanta Braves get each season.

Ezra Mam should (all things being equal - highly unlikely though) be looking for a job soon enough. One can only hope this is the last I have seen of him. And, with any luck he can take his braindead, inarticulate hypocritical fool with him.

25 MPs for every 10k voters - We are in electorates at the state and federal level that have over 100k registered voters - so going by the ACT model we should have up to 10 MP's at the state and federal levels.
No way would people accept that number of MP's
People tend to find Canberra as being rather soulless and dull - not sure if it's because it's a compromise/created city or because it's a bureaucratic city full of pollies and public servants
Australia's capital has an long-time and unfortunate reputation for being dull. Percy Deane, secretary to the Prime Minister's department in 1928, said: "The best view of Canberra is from the back of a departing train."
