Battle fields are of interest as they tell you about the history of the times, which you may never be aware of otherwise. I always think about why it came to this, as we as humans are supposedly civilised people, but since time began there have been wars and conflict and always will be, it seems.

The Somme was a place I had a connection with having relatives that fought there, and Gettysburg and Stalingrad were battles that changed the fortunes of both of these wars and many say the turning point.

I recently visited the place where the famous Battle of Culloden occurred between the Scots and the red coats.
