Most of us have a flutter this time of year on the many races all over the country but what else you guys bet on? The footy? Other sports? Toddlywinks? Political races?

I just head down the TAB and put down 20 or so mystery trifectas at $5 each.

I'm happy to take the 1/5,000,000 on to win a dollar. More than happy to risk my $5 million dollars to win a dollar. There's also a bet where you can get 1/10,000,000 on where Saliva talks to himself. I mean, this is like buying money. Saliva starting yet another pointless thread that only he contributes to? One may as well write one's own ticket.

And on a much less serious note, I do like the Japanese horse (Ascoli Piceno in race 8, No. 19) in the Golden Eagle at Rosehill tomorrow. I know she's at short odds - currently 4/1, but despite the barrier, I think she well may have the class on this field.

Racing is my number 1 passion (sorry Roosters). Been a lifelong love and I spend a fair bit of time and energy on it these days. Have often thought of starting a 'Punting' thread here. I know there are some enthusiasts in the main section and at least a couple on here. Just don't know how much traction it would get? When we had our Suoercoach thread last year I tried to garner some interest with weekly updates but ended up talking to myself! (Yes I know there is a whole nutha thread for that one...).

Just in relation to 007s tip in the Golden Eagle. I know it's easy to be wise post event, but I did take on the Japanese fave. Thought Lazzat best of the visitors and Stefi Magnetica the locals. Backed em both and blow me down ran 2nd and 5th respectively with horrible hard luck yarns, esp Stefi. Both protested unsuccessfully too....cry me a river.

Yes I kinda grew up with horses/racing in the blood. My Dad was an SP Bookie at one point, when they weren't all legal and you could find at least one in every town. Mum was a top horsewoman, preparing and strapping horses in her younger days.

And it's not just the Punting although I do love pitting your wits against the bookies. It's the whole experience - the beautiful animals, the skill and bravery of the jockeys, the colour and glamour of raceday. Seeing a foal at foot grow up to be a racehorse and all the miles and work that goes in to that happening. It's seriously one of life's great pleasures, and have to say I'm grateful to have been exposed to it a a young age.

Im not a horse person. They hate me so I just stay away.

I’ve been bitten a number of times, kicked and bucked off since I was a kid. I even got bitten at the Easter show a couple of years ago. Horses hate me!
