While ever Putins in charge, things are unstable which is a bit scary..
over the years trump has made a lot of comments praising putin. i don't think he has a commitment to anyone in public life and putin would be wrong to count on him but trumps's made more favourable comments about putin than is healthy for the leader of a democracy. trump likes 'strong men'.
how did you react to the trump tariffs on oz?

Not positively obviously. But not unexpected given the hostility shown towards the Don from the Oz Ambassador, Albanese, Wong and Bowen. I know he imposed tariffs across the board pretty much and others higher than us. But I can't help thinking a Conservative government with good relations with the US may have got a better deal. Could be a swing factor for Pete in the election.

jfc, mate, it was a cross the board tariff. no exceptions. it had nothing to do with what you wrongly describe as albo's hostility. take a look at trump's reply to a question about whether his actions re canada would be bad for canada's conservatives

Just watching PC61 and Random Roosters channel of choice (Sky News), and the analysis suggests the 10% tariffs on us directly will only have a small impact. The bigger indirect impact will be the high tariffs he has put on our bigger trading partners like China, Japan, India (between 25 and 35%). This risks our local market being flooded with product from these countries...apparently.

He has a reputation for misspelling on Twitter. Maybe he needs new reading glasses or his fingers are too fat, or he just couldn’t be bothered proof-reading. I wonder if dr old mad rooster baron from Hong Kong would be as annoyed at Trump’s grammatical errors as he is with zac’s? I’m sure my opinion won’t bother him in the least though and I fully expect to get a zzzzzz or a you are so boring or some other short blunt reply.

Oh ok, I didn't know that. We obviously read different content.

For all that, he seems to have done...ok..

Yeah, I don’t use Twitter but the two kids use social media a lot - ages 22 and 20. They’ve told me all about it, even during his first term when they were still at school. There’s been lots of memes and jokes etc about it over the years. I make a lot of errors when texting / messaging myself which is why I try to proof read. Anyway, basically I just thought the comment to zac was funny ironic.

Bingo. I was sitting amongst reputable economists today as it happened and asked them where the numbers came from. Consensus was that he made the numbers up outta thin air and they are going to be an absolute farce to enforce, with most of the burden being on US companies/consumers.

It's not worth losing sleep over and honestly there will be no direct impact on Australian exports. The main impact will come from economic uncertainty wiping out global markets and us being a casualty of the USA / EU / China engaging in an unnecessary trade war.

Thankfully I've got my running to focus on as this shyte isn't worth losing sleep over. It's childish and I think commonsense will eventually prevail. Businesses and investors will realise Trump's BS isn't that hard to ignore. There will always be work-arounds until the old fool carks it or finishes his term (whichever one comes first).

He can? How? He even spared Russia from his blanket tariffs today.

Tariffs on blankets would be the last straw..

But what he could do is hit Russia with secondary tariffs on their oil exports. Their oil and gas has been largely unaffected by trade sanctions to date.
