  • The Lefties Thread

    Good afternoon fellow lefties!

After spending 6 weeks travelling around Europe with the missus it was great to return home last week. My son wrote off my car and the neighbours complained about noise from the weekend parties otherwise the house was intact and the dog looked well.

After scouring through the threads here i thought it would be best not to comment on the Trump thread- for which im sure any criticism of his impending presidency will be met with a barrage of hostility and insults.

So if theres any fellow lefties here (and i may be the only one) then let loose on any topic you wish. It may be about the crackpot bunch of loonies Trump is putting together in his cabinet, the "policies" he will be implementing and what it means for not just America but more importantly Australia. Or it could be anything closer to home like anti -woke crusader Alan Jones. Go for it !!!

I’m not a looney leftie or a rightie nutter but I will comment on that sleazebag crackpot Jones. I see they’ve now charged him. I wonder how long it will take for more scared victims to come forward.

Thanks Andy.....and it's great to be back. As much as i enjoyed England, Spain, France and Malta there is no country as good as Australia- we are so blessed to be living here.

Funny you should put up that clip- i was a big fan of Welcome Back Cotter and i would do my version of the Barbarino dance in high school. I still remember doing it one time and this lovely good sort said " you think your shit hot hey, but you're not". That girl is now my sister in law !!

            Yeah. Welcome back RR.

Speaking of rails Bates. I have some fond memories of my years as a school kid travelling to school on the Sydney trains. Red rattlers and the Blue goose were my favs.

For some reason I really enjoy programs about trains and travel. Amazing Railway Adventures is one of my favourites.

If someone did start a thread about trains, would it stay on track though?

Often the way, isn't it!!! Something about Australia always draws us home...

I love Europe (and Japan / Vietnam) for so many reasons but simple things like being able to go for a jog without dodging thousands of people add up.

That said, I'd move to northern Italy (alpine region on the Swiss border) if there was a job waiting there for me. Quiet, good air, good local produce and beautiful nature. When I retire, I wanna spend way more time there and with my daughter in Japan (but with a Canberra / Sydney pad as a base).

I'd probably hijack it with my rants anout how farking stupid the 'fine' system is at Paris Disneyland's station (a journey in itself).

Would also be happy to talk about the Tsuruga shinkansen and the train museum in Florence though.

Sydney has gone from the best city in the world imo to an absolute shit show within a 10 year period.

I loved going to the Big smoke as a kid. It was awe inspiring ! These days it doesn't really feel like Australia anymore. It's sad but I think our immigration policy is the problem. Not a lot of thought into infrastructure plannig just bring em in.. No wonder there is a housing crisis. Albo has lost the plot !

If anyone is interested in tariffs and has 15 minutes to watch the following video, which explains in very simple terms how they work, id be interested in your feedback to the question at the end "do the pros outweigh the cons"

                              https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lD3FX_wxqUI

If you dont have 15 minutes, or you're simply not interested, that's ok just move on and continue ripping each other new arseholes in the Trump thread
