In 1923 Adolf Hitler incited an insurrection against the German government. He was tried, given a slap on the wrist, and became a convicted felon. Despite being treated charitably by the judge, Hitler claimed the trial was political persecution and successfully portrayed himself as a victim of the “corrupt" Social Democrats.

Hitler cleverly positioned himself as the voice of the "common man," railing against the "elites," cultural "degeneracy," and the establishment, who he all labeled as "Marxists." He claimed the education system was indoctrinating children to hate Germany, and promised to return Germany to greatness.

To solidify his base, Hitler masterfully scapegoated minorities for the nation's problems, exploiting societal divisions with an "us vs. them" narrative. Many Germans took the bait. Hitler's Nazi Party continued to gain traction, until he became Chancellor in 1933.

Hitler appointed German oligarchs as his economic advisors. He proceeded to privatize government run utilities, solidifying support of the economic elite.

With the working class divided along cultural and ethnic lines, the Nazis shut down workers unions and abolished strikes.

Progressives and trade unionists were imprisoned and sent to concentration camps. Corporate profits skyrocketed while working class Germans lived paycheck to paycheck.

Hitler, who became a billionaire while in office, knew he and his clan of oligarchs could get away with the scam if they constantly had an "enemy within" to blame while the corporatocracy robbed the country blind.

An easy target was one of the smallest minorities. Hitler removed birthright citizenship rights of Jews and started rounding them up for mass deportations for being "illegally" in the country.

The German press under Nazi rule highlighted instances of violence by Jews to convince the public that Jewish immigrants were a danger to the "real Germans."

Hitler wasted no time dismantling democratic institutions. Loyalty wasn't just encouraged; it was demanded. Opponents were silenced. Media that dared to questioned[sic] him were vilified as "the enemy" and "Marxists."

Hitler's Propaganda Minister, Joseph Goebbels, bragged about how the Nazis were able to intimidate the media into giving them favorable coverage, and didn't need to give direct orders.

The Nazi regime and its followers collected all books they saw as promoting "degeneracy" or what would be considered "woke" today, and burned them in large bonfires. They also burned books that promoted class consciousness.

Berlin had a thriving LGBTQ community in the 1920s, and even had the first transgender clinic. The Nazis burned it to the ground. LGBTQ people were sent to concentration camps and forced to wear triangle badges. Many were killed in the Holocaust.

The Nazis also saw manhood as under threat by independent women who didn't rely on men. In 1934, Hitler proclaimed, “A women’s world is her husband, her family, her children, her house." Laws that had protected women's rights were repealed and new laws were introduced to restrict women to the home and in their roles as wives and mothers.

Reproductive rights were severely rolled back, and doctors who performed abortions could face the death penalty.

Despite all of this, the German people didn't have a similar historical parallel to look upon as a warning. Most Germans never acted like the sky was falling. Most just went along with their lives as usual, until many of their lives were snuffed out.

By the time Hitler's reign was forced to an end by the Allied Powers, 11 million people were murdered in the Holocaust, and 70-85 million were killed in WW2 .

Hitler admired the religion of Islam. Albert Speer, the main Nazi architect, said that Hitler told him that Germany had the wrong religion. He believed the pacifism of Christianity was characterised by "meekness and flabbiness" while Islam and its justification of violence was "a religion of men" more suited to the "Germanic temperament". During this period, Islam and Naziism shared a common distaste for the Jews, the Soviet Union and liberal democracy.

Hitler also greatly admired the achievements of Ataturk, who he believed followed the "Fuhrer principle". He had forced religious authorities to submit to the power of the state, and racially cleansed Turkey of Armenians, without concern for Western criticism. He also appreciated the Young Turks movement for rejecting the post-war order following the First World War. Germans of Turkish and Iranian descent were classed as Aryans and were excluded from the Nuremburg laws.

Our Plan to get Australia back on track

We will deliver more affordable housing

Under Labor, the aspiration of home ownership has become out of reach.

Interest rates and rents have had their highest increases in over a decade.

Building approvals have fallen to their lowest level in over a decade.

At the same time, Labor has brought one million more people to Australian in just two years. Just 350,000 homes were constructed in that time.

Further, red tape and union corruption have added to costs and delays.

Labor has also revealed it is looking to introduce new housing taxes (including changes to negative gearing), which would reduce investment and push up rents.

The Coalition is determined to restore the dream of home ownership.

We will boost housing supply, rebalance migration, incentivise first home buyers and take pressure off interest rates and rents.

We will unlock up to 500,000 new homes by investing $5 billion to fund essential infrastructure like water, power, and sewerage at housing development sites.

And to further address supply constraints, the Coalition will freeze any further changes to the National Construction Code for 10 years.

At a time of high inflation, Labor has increased the compliance burden for new housing projects, adding up to $60,000 to the price of a new home.

Our freeze on red tape will provide certainty and let builders get on with the job of building more homes for Australians.

Amidst a housing crisis, Labor has brought in one million people in just two years. A new person is migrating to Australia every 46 seconds.

While we celebrate the contribution of migrants, our program needs to be well managed.

To alleviate pressure on the housing market, we will:

• Implement a two-year ban on foreign investors and temporary residents purchasing existing homes.
• Reduce permanent migration – from 185,000 to 140,000 for two years (then 150,000 in year three and 160,000 in year four).
• Return the refugee and humanitarian program planning level to the long-term average – from 20,000 to 13,750.
• Reduce the numbers of foreign students at metropolitan universities, increase the student visa fee and apply it to foreign students who change providers.

By rebalancing the migration program, the Coalition would free up almost 40,000 additional homes in the first year.

And well over 100,000 homes in the next five years.

A Coalition Government will allow Australians to access up to $50,000 from their super to buy their first home. The money initially withdrawn from super will need to be returned when the house is sold to support retirement.

Under Labor, interest rates remain high because of homegrown inflation which has been consistently higher than other major economies.

We will take pressure off interest rates by responsibly managing the economy, including reducing wasteful spending.

Good to know Dutton magically bought a heap of shares in banks a few days before the bail-out was announced.

Sounds a bit like what he admitted to doing on Bouris' poddie. He openly admits he was the most junior rank of cop for 10+ years, did regular ~72hr shifts (for $$$ overtime) and was running childcare centres + commercial developments during these shifts.

IMO he's just like the two 'hard @rses' he appointed to run his stupid 'HOME AFFAIRS' portfolio (aka the Department of Immigration and Citizenship). Both Pezzulo and Quadvlieg sold themselves as being hard on immigration/customs compliance. However, both had close family members who are drug dealers & were independently sacked for corruption. Surprise surprise. Why is it always the OTT 'zero tolerance' guys who get done for corruption themselves?

If there's one thing I've learned about hard arses, it's that they are ALWAYS hiding their own corruption. Old mate will not be missed...
