He did not Bob Dwyer coached the Wallabies in their 1991 World Cup win and Rod McQueen coached them in 1999

Hate the guy but it's before the courts and like Pell... I'm happy to accept he's a d!ckhead but not a sex offender if that's the eventual outcome.

Yes, I remember now. Bob spoke about teamwork at a work function not long after the win.

I think the confusion has arisen from Jones being the first to coach the Wallabies to a European grand slam tour in 84 where they beat all the Northern hemisphere sides

He did coach Wallsbies in 1987 where they lost in the dying moments in what was a thrilling game of Rugby to the French

That's exactly where my confusion came from.

Couldn't agree more. Just watch his powerful friends try and influence and intimidate the victims and write glowing character references to the court.

He has friends in high places for sure. I think his time has come though. For a man with that kind of ego simply being charged and on the front pages will be breaking him. A pessimistic person might suggest he is involved with other high level pedos such as as those employed in the legal system.

Someone might suggest that. Note that Roger Rogerson and George Pell were among his great friends. Today I see James Packer coming out in support.

Cardinal Pells convictions were all overturned I think. He seemed to be the guy set up to pay for the sins of his Church.

Yes they were and to some extent I probably agree with you on that. And yes the convictions were overturned. It wasn’t conclusive with Pell. Jones is a different story though. From teacher to coach to ‘mentor’, his work in radio and a mentor and financial supporter of aspiring young male artists, there are allegations spread throughout. Not just in the one industry so to speak and also spread over decades.

Was just a matter of time before Rupert's Sky News dinosaurs came to his defence.......

Andrew Bolt said that “checks were made” before he was hired by the News Corp-owned network, where he worked during and after he was on air at 2GB. Nine owns 2GB, the Herald and The Age.

“I wonder how, if this is true, he could allegedly abuse staff at 2GB over years and years, and not one person in authority there knew?” Bolt asked.

Sky News host Peta Credlin criticised the police and media for what she claimed was unfair treatment of the former broadcaster.

Credlin said it “didn’t sit right” with her that Jones was arrested at his Circular Quay home rather than being given the opportunity to present himself to a police station without the media knowing.

“I’ve known Alan well for nearly two decades and seen him in many different contexts, and the behaviour alleged is entirely out of character with the man I’ve known,” she said.

Jones will face Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court on December 18.
