How bout the monorail? Was a great way to travel to Pyrmont.
My lament was the light rail, when it should’ve been a tram. They could still correct it, more frequent trams, buzzing up and around every minute versus an intermittent long tram (light rail).
And while I mention the monorail, that is what the VFT should be. Raised rail through the country. Unfortunately the short prime ministerial terms would never allow such a project. Tax twiggy and gina to fund the bastard.
Sigh... that bloody multi-billion dollar 'light rail' (aka tram) nonsense with old mate Barr's single reason being 'all mature cities have trams' is something that will also grind my gears.
Come to think about it, there's a reason why I run to work

Monorails were definitely the business. What made them go outta fashion with trams making their comeback?
Maybe a little bit voyeuristic of me but I always liked seeing the random homes above shops that people had around the CBD. There were some pretty sweet little arrangements going on there...

With the light rail leaving from Central i find i can be at the SCG or Allianz in 30 minutes from home in St Peters with good connections . Bus, Train then light rail.

No dramas with Sydney's tram system or various European / Japanese trams (the good old Fukui station to Bell Plaza tram is great and keeps many of the silver workforce in meaningful work that gives them identity...etc, something I think we under-rate in society). Equally, I like travelling down from Surry Hills to Circular Quay without traffic or having to enter a station.
Canberra's requires too much of a tangent for me to explain fully. However, I'm not a fan as it's been heavily politicised and is a poor usage of rates / land tax (which have skyrocketed in order to pay for it).
Not suprised to hear Canberra is getting a light rail system in place I almost commented tongue in cheek earlier that Canberra will eventually get one. It’s all part of the sustainable development 15- 30 minute city agenda

Not at all, Friday , Saturday and Sunday it's half fares and also having a Gold opal card the most i would ever pay any day is $2.50.
Also with your membership or valid ticket it's free travel to the Roosters or Swans games for me so doesn't cost a cent on the day.
