According to this report Australia has the 4th highest minimum wage in the world behind Luxemburg , Netherlands and New Zealand - of course juniors under the age of 21 will get a % of the relevant adult pay rate based on the particular industries Award or EA
According to the ABS the median wage in Australia is $ 1396.00 per week - $72,592 per annum so NSW's cannot be $52k as quoted by Capitalist Paddo - mmm must be those shoddy tradies boosting that figure
Also, I know all about those percentages as my daughter is always taken off her regular shift if it’s a public holiday as they don’t want to pay her 20% of the adult wage on the double penalty rate or whatever the public holiday rate is.
A mate of mine who runs a trade business, said he has had to double what he paid his guys ten years ago. What other sector would have had a 100% increase in wages in ten years?
He recently put three new guys on, 2 immigrants and a bogan Aussie. Guess which one wasn’t up to standard and has since been moved on?

The media would have us believe only the fat lazy public service falls into that category as it’s an easy target and the public never doubts it.
Another mate runs a team for a well known industry super fund. Prior to Christmas I caught up with him and his staff for some end of year drinks. All together there was five of them with their combined wage bill in excess of $1m. Five people!! For an administrative role within the business.
Interestingly, they also complained about the cost of living when on average they earn over $200kpa. Lol
* '08: Yours is a free assertion (ie off the top of your head). There's no indication that accounts below $3m will be affected and even if, $2m and $1m in the account would affect very few and none on here. You are of the tradie mentality - no concern for the wider community (tax dodgers) and the dumb impression that everyone is rich. The median wage (median is a better indicator than MR's "average because it identifies the most commonly paid wage which, in NSW, is around $52K a year. The tradie income alone would push up the average.
* Sal: Shish... giving the Rapporteur a hard time with your loopy conspiracy stuff. You'll have ASIO onto you buddy if you keep that up. Anti depressants are what I recommend. You'll feel like a new man.
Reluctantly I call bullshit on the cousin - the claim is in the same category as "I've always voted progressive/never voted conservative, but this time......" or "it's the mums and dads with modest investments who will be affected..." How many mums and dads have share portfolios and investment houses? Mums and Tradies probably, most of whom have inherited their initial stake that's who. The ones who whinge loudest about the cozzie liv. As if the Party of Capital/business is ever going to regulate the cost of living. They don't give orders to Corporations, they take them.
Would your wage push up the average .I know mine would have so why shouldn't a tradie .As before just because you went to uni doesn't mean you should earn more
This is nothing more than robust discussion people disagreeing with others views nothing wrong with that. I’m sure the poster of #182 is capable of his own defence if he wishes to be not that it’s really needed.
Interestingly I live not too far from RR and just like RRsaid The Jewish people I know are not living in fear and they do not believe the terrorists are winning as quoted in#182 which I will reiterate is straight from the Fox/Murdoch news playbook. Just because PC has called it doesn’t mean I didn’t already think this about the #182 poster. I think I said to you earlier in this thread this poster has a long history going back well over a decade of these types of posts that mirror what has been said on Fox/Murdoch news.
I see you are selective in who you respond to as the post above my initial recent post Was also saying the same thing
Oh Andrew , you know the reason I'm selective .It's because your like the bloke if the tv show , you know the one cantstandya
Are you saying the public service has had a doubling of wages in the last 10 years?
No, I clearly said the media (usually in support of hardline right wing politics) would do its best to imply that was the case. The ones always advocating for slashing the public service. Believe me it is no longer the organisation it once was pre 2000.

I rarely if ever watch such tedious and boring television I can see how it would be right up your alley though.
Now let’s not let this denegrate any further by you airing your personal issues. A polite reminder your response clearly shows YOU are the one with the problem not myself.
Now please. Let’s get back to sticking to topic which is The Upcoming Federal Election
Yes the point of the focus on salaries is that in generations to come, the $3 million super balance will be less significant due to inflation and wages growth and compulsory superannuation. It must be indexed.

OH MR !!! I thought better of you. This is shock jock Fox News Murdoch stuff you are peddling. You do realise it is widely reported the vast majority of Australians will not have enough super to retire comfortably on. At the moment a super balance of 750 K providing you own your own home ( which the vast majority won’t have or won’t have done ) with 6-10 percent returns would see someone be able to retire very comfortably withdrawing more than the average wage yearly
With your economic acumen can you demonstrable show how will those on the average wage will get close to 3 million in super in years to come

Ohh mate, that's an easy one. The white Aussie bogan obviously. Cnts, what have they ever done for us? You and your mate sound like you're on the ball. Immi's are the good. They've never caused any problems here,

Oh Andy!!! Again, I am not talking about now. I am talking about generations into the future. I support the superannuation policy in principle but it needs to be worked on more before rushing it through parliament. I AM using my economics acumen and that of my financial advisor sibling in making up my own mind. I also have a reasonably good knowledge of superannuation. Have you heard f inflation and wages growth? It happens over decades and decades. $3 million in today’s money was probably worth $8 million in 1970. Also, I dislike news limited as anyone who reads my posts should know. I can’t stand Paul Murray, Bolt, Credlin etc and refuse to put any of them on my screen as they just cause my blood pressure to rise. I have Foxtel for the NRL, AFL and cricket. I have also stated that I hope Mr Albanese is returned to power as I do not want Duddon as PM and a return to the Abbott days. Please reserve your disappointment and disapproval for someone else.
