Can you imagine, for a second, what the media ( and Albanese) would be doing to Mr. Dutton if the roles were reversed?
that's because at your worst you're a bitter old grump. every partisan thinks their hero is unfairly treated and the other side gets all the breaks

Haha...well you've played that one straight from the lefty playbook. Play the man when faced with uncomfortable truths. I never said Mr Dutton was my hero. Just highlighting how the media in this country is very very selective.

fair to say you're not a swinging voter but it's okay. 'lefty playbook'? 'uncomfortable truths'?

just watched the 7.30 report on the abc and the debate's coming up. can't say i've got a lot of enthusiasm to watch it. might watch the opening ...

I've never understood why you keep wasting your time defending him and now he's playing you like a Violin.

              • Just like the first debate, I didn't think there was a clear winner. Both ducked and weaved a few questions otherwise, I thought a lot of the answers were standard.

Paul Murray said, “Dutton won by a country mile,” and Chris Kenny said Dutton “smashed it out of the park”. I can only think Dutton landed a few killer blows when i flicked channels for a couple of minutes to watch Happy Valley races

Even though you are somewhat moderate, these idiots think you are an extremist. Hilarious.

                      • Albo the main steam media darling ? Yeah, right.

Oz's commercial msm is right wing. It is owned and operated by the rich and is, to a large extent, responsible for the "social conservatism" of the Australian masses. Going back to The Bulletin days there have been few occasions when our popular media has endorsed the ALP or any progressive. Surely, as adults, we couldn't think that the rich have our best interests at heart politically or otherwise? But many of us ae still prone to see our media as a voice from on high, just there, as it always has been. They don't see it as self interested or biased.

The ABC has been monstered by the Libs and News, to the point that it has become supine and hyper sensitive to accusations of bias, it has even recruited a bunch of RW lightweights in recent times from Commecial media. Stan Grant was the first disaster - a right wing Abo is a rare species but one who is also a spokesman for ASPI even rarer. The ABC and SBS ae no enemies of the coalition.

Murdoch media rams down their viewers throat that the news market is flooded with left leaning reporting- and of course the viewer just accepts it and would never actually ever check by flicking the channel. Instead they will go by selected examples presented to them by the Murdoch media.

A couple of weeks ago on the day the US market got pounded, FOX News completely ignored reporting anything from Wall St as it was happening and instead just focused on how many "illegal aliens" the Trump administration had deported that week and Joe Bidens mental decline. I was changing the channel and checking every 10 minutes thinking surely a 7% drop of the Dow would be reported-not a single thing. Yet when Trump paused the tariffs and the market dead cat bounced, FOX news was all over it- declaring Trump is a master negotiator and he was playing "5D chess while the rest of the world was playing checkers" and even plugging The Art of The Deal (i didn't know there was a 5th dimension).

That doesn’t surprise me really. I just want balanced reporting. I really don’t know where you can find that these days.

                              Chris Bowen seat of McMahon

                              Peter Dutton set of Dickson

Have to do a slight retraction. I misread your original post as saying McMahon only had 2 candidates and the alternative was $14. Hence my surprise. But there's 5 I think incl ON, an Ind and a Green. So, although there will be big swings away from Blackout they will be spread across 4 other candidates. Which makes his defeat less a good thing, but still a possibility I guess with the Independent being the most likely threat.

Yes MR the choices are few. In the msm, the ABC on line is probably still the the best bet though not ideal. in the alt media Michael West Media, Menadue and The Conversaion. Crikey is good also.

ATM, Trump is using up all of the political interest oxygen and the election is not getting much attention but as Trump is so disappointing to those who had so much hope, that's not a bad thing for the ALP.

Like our msm, Jax sees the election as a horse race. Once again the outcome is in the hands of the politically ignorant. Some democracy!
