I've never understood why you keep wasting your time defending him and now he's playing you like a Violin.

Just like the first debate, I didn't think there was a clear winner. Both ducked and weaved a few questions otherwise, I thought a lot of the answers were standard.
Paul Murray said, “Dutton won by a country mile,” and Chris Kenny said Dutton “smashed it out of the park”. I can only think Dutton landed a few killer blows when i flicked channels for a couple of minutes to watch Happy Valley races

Albo the main steam media darling ? Yeah, right.
Oz's commercial msm is right wing. It is owned and operated by the rich and is, to a large extent, responsible for the "social conservatism" of the Australian masses. Going back to The Bulletin days there have been few occasions when our popular media has endorsed the ALP or any progressive. Surely, as adults, we couldn't think that the rich have our best interests at heart politically or otherwise? But many of us ae still prone to see our media as a voice from on high, just there, as it always has been. They don't see it as self interested or biased.
The ABC has been monstered by the Libs and News, to the point that it has become supine and hyper sensitive to accusations of bias, it has even recruited a bunch of RW lightweights in recent times from Commecial media. Stan Grant was the first disaster - a right wing Abo is a rare species but one who is also a spokesman for ASPI even rarer. The ABC and SBS ae no enemies of the coalition.

A couple of weeks ago on the day the US market got pounded, FOX News completely ignored reporting anything from Wall St as it was happening and instead just focused on how many "illegal aliens" the Trump administration had deported that week and Joe Bidens mental decline. I was changing the channel and checking every 10 minutes thinking surely a 7% drop of the Dow would be reported-not a single thing. Yet when Trump paused the tariffs and the market dead cat bounced, FOX news was all over it- declaring Trump is a master negotiator and he was playing "5D chess while the rest of the world was playing checkers" and even plugging The Art of The Deal (i didn't know there was a 5th dimension).

ATM, Trump is using up all of the political interest oxygen and the election is not getting much attention but as Trump is so disappointing to those who had so much hope, that's not a bad thing for the ALP.
Like our msm, Jax sees the election as a horse race. Once again the outcome is in the hands of the politically ignorant. Some democracy!Last edited by Paddo Colt 61; 04-17-2025, 07:20 PM.
