In the end he won the college electoral vote, the popular vote, the House and the Senate. Thats a pretty good mandate to follow through on what he said he would do- and go nuts with the tariffs. He did promise to bring down cost of living expenses, groceries etc and now he doesn't even talk of it let alone address it- but hey he is a politicians and politicians lie all the time

Friends of my Vietnamese in-laws (who regularly share Asian pride style videos on Facebook and heckle 'white' people using some quite odd discourse... I'd almost call them Asian supremacists) shared a MAGA parody video today. A heap of middle-aged, white Americans were sitting around in a massive sweat shop, sewing line after line on their sewing machines, with Trump's slogans about bringing jobs back to America on top of it. I usually cringe at their Asian pride BS, but had to chuckle as it's true... this is the myth about US manufacturing jobs. They were sent offshore because nobody wanted to do these jobs (and the pay was shyte).
This might sound extreme but I use a computer forum (US based) and it's hilarious how proud/nationalistic Americans get. You tell them it's stupid that some shop won't ship to Australia... in their mind it makes complete sense that you wouldn't trust sending goods to Australia. Also they get VERY nationalistic about the concept that computer components should all be made in the USA. When you tell them that this wouldn't be engineering jobs and shyte it'd be assembling phones and stuff in a production line (and that the components themselves are made by machines not humans), they become very irate.
The other US myth I see a lot is that 'the world's most powerful army is the US civilian army... if attacked we would all bear arms and fight away any enemy... I would hold my gun proudly and be a mighty warrior [says some fat b@stard who'd probably shoot himself in the foot while trying to load the thing]!!!' Go on any 'Murrican forum and they'll all be rallying around the maypole with this kinda BS.
Americans have some weird beliefs. If they didn't then the Daaanld not only wouldn't have been re-elected (after all the shyte he caused)... he probably never woulda been allowed into politics in the first place as he woulda been unelectable.Last edited by ism22; 04-09-2025, 08:51 AM.
