  • Howzat - how good was it!

Did anyone else watch it last night, I loved it, best thing I've watched on tele for ages! KP was King, I pity the people I have to deal with today in business, I've taken KP lessons & there will be tears I guarantee it!!

I enjoyed watching the actors then trying to guess which player they were supposed to be. Thought the Marsh, Greg Chappell and Tangles Walker actors did resemble the players.
The guy playing KP surely will end up winning a Logie !
Is KP's secretary Rosie ....that annoying Rhonda from the tv ads ?

Why was Gary Cosier brushed from the Packer teams ?
Never realised how much Tony Greig copped for joining the Packer series !

I enjoyed it to ....loved the music !

It was the best thing I've seen on Channel 9 for a few years now. Kept me entertained for the whole 2 hours. Lachie Hume (I think) who plays Packer is absolutely brilliant isn't he.

And yes Hawkeye, his secretary is Rhonda from the AAMI ads. I really felt for that poor woman, the way that KP spoke to her. As a secretary myself, I've had some blasts in my time but nothing compared to his.

I loved the music as well - so much so I've asked the nephew for the soundtrack CD for my birthday in October. Might have to consider buying the DVD as well when it comes out if the 2nd part is as good as the first.

The best bit of the whole show was showing just how much John Cornell was involved.

It was a harkening back to what channel 9 used to be able to do, period drama that wasn't steampunked like Underbelly: Razor which jazzed up songs Mental as Anything and the Hoodoo Gurus amongst others.

I suspect that Kerry Packer's secretary was paid several thousand dollars a week to cop that abuse. KP had a massive temper but he was also generous as hell.

I'm personally waiting to see who plays Kim Hughes as he was a prominent opponent of the format (and incidentally my favourite Australian cricket player.)

Just about to watch it tonight as I recorded it. I loved Paper Giants on the ABC and have seen it 3 times and the soundtrack to that too so I'm happy to hear the music is good.

Yes it is, but a great show none the less.

Also agree the actor playing Kerry Packer, absolutely brilliant.

Sorry guys, I hated it but love the music. I started watching last week's episode and had to turn it off. Too much swearing and too many hairy men!

Turns out he's a fictional character, like the secretary. I think the character was put in to show the dichotomy of Kerry Packer's personality.

A family friend who worked for him at ACP saw him hold a large fellow male staff member up against a wall with one hand, screaming at him.

That same staff member received a new Mercedes Benz as a bonus not long after.

That last scene where John Cornell walks in on Kerry talking about gambling shows that he was after the next big thing to interest him.

At least Packer loved Cricket, unlike Murdoch who loves nothing but money. And female Chinese spies who make him feel mellow and worldly.
