  • Went here on Saturday night.

    http://www.sixpenny.com.au/

Not cheap, but awesome. I think the guys running it are ex Tetsuyas. Food and service were brilliant.

Here's a different twist - no menus. It's all degustation, and you just have whatever they bring. 11 courses in all, 8 of them with matching wines. As I said, pretty expensive, but definitely worth it.

For you guys who don't live inner west, drive there, park the car in one of the residential streets nearby, and go get it in the morning. It's a short walk from Stanmore station.

The standard of the cheeseburger at Mary's is equivalent to a Mc Donalds cheeseburger, crap, cannot understand the hype of Mary's, expensive cocktails and greasy disappointing burgers, should have tried the fried chicken but couldn't be bothered going back, so many better food and drink options in Newtown.

That looks awesome Kingsgrove-Loiner, may have to check it out.
Speaking of degustation, I did the degustation here last week.

It was very pleasant, had snails for the first time, they were ok but cannot say I am a big fan, the rest of the meal was very good.

Heading to Linda's in Newtown tomorrow night, cant wait.

Turk? I'm as Australian as the Sydney Rock Oyster. With a few other breeds thrown in.

                    • Been here for a casual dinner a couple of times over the last few months.

                      http://smashsausagekitchen.com.au/

Just basic sausage and mash but the sausages are good and the mash is great, a few other things on the menu too, I ordered the mushy peas as a side which were delicious, they have a $15 special on Mondays for the three sausage option, just nice casual dining and good comfort food.

                        • Well Linda's lived up to its reputation, entrees of crab cakes and salt and pepper prawns off the special board, crab cakes were beautiful and smoky and the salt and pepper prawns were yummo, mains of miso baked salmon and lamb shoulder were great too, enjoyed the salmon very much. Desert were a sample of different sorbets and ice creams, the salted caramel ice cream was divine, the rhubarb sorbet very nice and the pineapple ice cream also very nice but the main star was an excellent vanilla ice cream. A very pleasant night.

I like the ginger sponge dessert so much that Ms Loiner got them to do a take out one last week for my birthday. It's the best dessert in Sydney in my opinion - a proper old school pud.

Would be happy to go to Linda's every week to be honest, love the place.

Agree mate, was pretty underwhelmed with the one I had. Was expecting great things, and was pretty disappointed. This was a while ago though, so maybe they've got their act together....

I am not a big dessert eater but I always have dessert when I go to Linda's. Was quite full after dinner the other night that is why I opted for the ice cream and sorbets option this time.
