It was a great weekend away, the food at Mrs Top was top notch, had duck ragu, john dory and also frozen grapes for desert.Had some nice fish and chips and oysters at Burrill Lake also and of course no trip to Ulladulla is complete without a Haydens pie or two
Yeah i am not a bad cook but with a lot of late shifts in the liquour industry i am very rusty at the moment.
Also agree would love to see some gourmet dogs at the footy, smothered with onions, sauerkraut, cheese and mustard, now that will have Mickeys mouth watering, lol.

Going to Ripples at Sydney Wharf for dinner Saturday night, cant wait to try it out.

if your anywhere near greenwell point again horrie stop by huskisson and enjoy a meal at the newly refurbed husky pub, food is quite good, but matched with a bucket of prawns and one of the best views of jervis bay on the deck it is pure eating pleasure.

Didnt wet a line this time mate, it was overun with kids everywhere on holidays, have caught plenty of whiting out of Burrill Lake over the years, used to fish Lake Tabourie also and caught lots of bream, Tabourie hasnt been open to the sea for years now so not sure whether its worth wetting a line there anymore, heading back down there early Feb so will chuck the rods in for a quick flick.

Didnt get to Greenwall Point this time but stayed with a friend at Shoalhaven Heads for the night.Havent been to Husky for a while but the views of the water there are beautiful and could imagine myself sitting there with a bucket of prawns or some oysters and a beer or a glass of champers, life doesnt get much better than that

Great. Let me know how you get on mate. Me and the boys are desperately in need of a good fishing outing right now.

I kid you not, my 6 yo came home from school yesterday and didnt seem too happy. I asked him what was wrong and he said he wanted to go back to Australia so he could go fishing with me and catch a big fish that he cook on the BBQ to eat!

                              Im a proud dad!

                              • I just noticed this thread after it was mentioned in the main bit...so I know it's drifted off track a bit, but I'm going to press on with my food opinions anyway.....

Best Indian I've had in Sydney is at Holy Cow on Cleveland St. The Octopus with Chilli and Garlic is brilliant.

Best kebabs are at the Yeeros Shop on Illawarra Rd, Marrrickville.

Best Lebonese would be Jasmines at Lakemba. Bit close to bandit country, but worth the risk.

Best pub food is a tough one to call, but I was in the new, improved Carrington just before Christmas, and it was very good. Bit expensive, and a bit trendy, but very good food.

Went to Spice Temple recently, and although it was good, I couldn't get my head around paying $49 for crispy pork belly......spoiled it a bit. Would have been better off at Doytao in Newtown. Or Spice I Am in Surry Hills.

For a very high class dinner, probably the best new restaurant in Sydney I reckon, go to 4Fourteen on Foveaux St.....it's right up there, and not too fancy. Expensive but brilliant, and gives you a good excuse to give the Forresters a visit on the way to the station.

Seafood? Usually just cook it at home.

There endeth the food ramblings of the Loiner.
