When the old Coles variety store was down in the city near King St I used love getting the fried chicken and chips from the takeaway and head down to Circular Quay and sit down on the grass and eat them.

They sell a lot of chicken too but I will only eat chicken from Birds Galore up the road from me.

      • The Morrison looks like it has a good cocktail list, may try one before having dinner at Peter Doyles at the Quay next week, if I don't go there there is always the Opera Bar for a nice glass of bubbles.
Going to Peter Doyles at the Quay on a travelzoo voucher and I just purchased one also to use at Bistro Lilly, have been wanting to go there for ages.

off to port mac tomorrow for some fishing and plenty of oysters

The water should have cleared for some good fishing now up there, the river was like the old Bondi murk a few weeks ago.Just finished the last lot of Ricardoes tomatoes I bought up there yesterday.
Enjoy the time up there and the oysters, wish I was back up there now.

Let's put this on our list to explore. I've always wanted to go here. It's the Gunners Barracks at Mosman.

It means leaving the eastern suburbs though to go to the north shore but I have renewed my passport:

Stayed at the anchorage they had a 199 deal with brekky...water was awesome as always.......smashed plenty of oysters. Had lots of enquiries but no sales in terms of fishing lol. It was a full moon never had any luck every time I have had a go during and either side of a full moon.

Have to give u all my best fishing tip
Get the cheapest toughest low grade beef you can (prob coles or woollies)
cut in very thing worm like pieces and soak in tuna oil over night
Never comes off fish love it as it takes the tuna smell and u can catch fish all day with the one baited hook

stsae, there is a 2013 Rabbitohs sticker on the door of our fish shop! Mind you, they virtually gave me a round of applause when I went in on Wednesday night to get my fish as I had on my Roosters cap. As if I was personally responsible for the 50-0 win myself.. Ironically, I then ran into my buddy Jake Friend who was just 'a bit tired' after the win..

                  • Went to the Morrison last night, the old Brooklyn Hotel on George St. Extremely underwhelmed by it.

Its noisy, not sure if it's a restaurant or a bar, and it's very expensive.

It's a tapas/sharing style place, but most dishes are in the $20+ bracket. One of them, sashimi scampi was $32 - for 6 scampi. It was nice, but shit - it needs to be at that price.

Bottles of wine start at $50, so it's one to avoid unless you've won lotto. Even then, there are heaps of places better than this.

The chef is the bloke from Seans Panorama at Bondi. I reckon he's overstepped the mark with this one. Massive thumbs down.

Its funny, called into the Morrison before going to dinner at Peter Doyles about 6 weeks ago and sat down for about a minute and looked around then headed out the door and went to the Opera Bar instead.Yes I was underwhelmed too, the only thing I would like to check out is the oysters but I think I would need a gold amex to afford them.

That's a mighty muddie.Believe it or not, I love seafood but crab is not one of my favourites, I like it but find the yield you get is just not worth it,mind you that muddie would have plenty of meat on it , nice catch

                            • Visited two of the restaurants mentioned on here in previous posts recently

The Original Balkan, it is the first time I have been since they moved to Crown St, extremely disappointing, this place used to be great but it was very ordinary, had my usual favourite whole grilled calamari but it was overcooked and came with just a scabby bit of lettuce, schnitzel was ok but the veges it came with were hideous.Have noticed they are now advertising burger and chips as a lunch time special so I think that is an indication of how far this place has slipped, wont be going back. Will try the seafood one in Oxford St soon, hopefully it hasn't gone down hill.

                              Hoh Won
Was getting close to closing so ordered steamed dim sims which were yummy and chicken wings which were scrummy, ordered some other chicken dish and fried rice, the first time I have ever eaten in there but have had take away a few times.Cant wait to go back and eat in again, there is just something so lovely and quaint about it.
