Had some of the nicest prawns i have tasted followed by beautiful steamed mussels in tomato chilli, garlic and onion at Lifeboat seafood at Brooklyn yesterday then had black fish chips and salad afterwards, chips are home made and the salad dressing is to die for, the black fish wasn't too shabby either, just love having a long lazy lunch on the Hawkesbury with a wine or three.
Simplest tastiest quick meal. Garlic, chilli, parsley, white wine and some tomato sugo.
I've found the vacuum packed live ones are very good, but I'd pick the tassie one's over the S.A one's when available because they are plumper.
I have refined my way of cooking them now, used to do the sauce with tomato puree and red wine but now just steam the mussels open in white wine but now the sauce is just tinned tomato, garlic, chilli and a bit of white wine, then strain the juice from the pan the mussels cook in into the pot with the other ingredients, sprinkle with parsley, yummmm, the sauce is just so much lighter and lets the mussels shine, I am a bit bit picky these days with tinned tomatoes and find Annalisa brand by far the best, just tomato and tomato juice.
Vics meats down at the fish markets, get in early if you want their pork or beef ribs, usually sell out by 1pm on the weekends. Waygu cheeseburger very good too.
They also have a waygu meat bar their, good food from a good butcher.

The hype about Vics meat at Pyrmont is unbelievable, will have to check it out when down there next, a certain amount of irony that a place selling red meat is popular at a fish market

Everything there is always good. We cannot figure out where to go for our work Christmas lunch in 2 days time. I then have my work farewell lunch on Friday 23 at Vapiano's in the Grace Hotel and then another farewell lunch for me again on Thursday 22 with other colleagues so that is 3 fancy lunches in 3 weeks with no Vegemite on Saladas or home made chickpea salads..

I've read nothing but good about Blackwood Pantry. I'll have to take a trip down to the Shire one day, but not in school holidays..
