  • More than two million aussies in poverty

We need to stop the fallacy that globalisation and a forever increasing population improves prosperity.

I did 6 months full time volunteering at a women's organisation in Melbourne geared towards helping ladies and young girls who could not afford work appropriate clothing for job interviews due to poverty and domestic violence. We saw up to 40 women a week in the CBD service alone. The good news is, after coming to us, 75% of the ladies would find gainful employment within 3 months, helping them break the poverty cycle. It makes me count my blessings every day and will be forever grateful for the privilege of getting to know these brave women. I'm all for charity beginning at HOME...

Very true. No matter how bad things get for most of us, there is always someone worse off. Spare a thought for them.

True. Spare a thought for Gina Rinehart who has to pay Australians excessive award wages when she can get Africans to do the same work for less than $2 per day.

How can this be, glorious capitalism is suppose to lead us all to prosperity and rivers of milk and honey, not leading to more and more people living in poverty?

These bludging arseholes obviously want to live in poverty, how else can you explain them living in it? They exist in a capitalistic country with excellent education and secondary schooling, equal rights, fair pay, geesus! They need to get off their arses and stop socialising, and going to the pub and having kids and buying houses and going into debt.

Oh well at least we know where the next crop of Soylent Green is coming from.

              Chook.

Yeah I'm not looking forward to eating the poor, they'll taste...well... poor.

A bland flavour, very little meat on the bones, they'll be the European Carp of the fish market.

Tell them to get a job. Boom no more poverty.

This study is bullshit. They have drawn an arbitrary line under a certain income which doesn't reflect anything in particular.

That is the Gina Reinhart argument. $50/day is an arbitrary number, whereas market rates are closer to $2/day.

Yes well if the Rabid Ranga wasn't spending millions on foreign aid to despot countries in order to get a seat on the corrupt and inept UN perhaps there would be more government aid for our own less fortunate back home.
