Interested to see what others think. If you were looking to pick up an investment property somewhere in Australia where would you choose? For example, where could you get the best returns on renting out a property worth $300,000 for example. Or would you look outside of Australia?

I can only speak for Sydney mate. You wont get a house unless you are 1 hours drive west of the CBD for 300k.
Units are a different proposition, you could probably still buy a 2 bedroom unit in say Campsie or Punchbowl on Canterbury rd for 300k & still be able to rent it out for $300 a week. The Indians & Asians will live anywhere for the right rent price. They are/have taken over Sydney.

Thanks Mick and Greeds. Yeah I like the idea of Central Coast because it would be a nice place to live as well. I was thinking perhaps somewhere in North QLD or perhaps even WA or country NSW. I'm from Sydney but everytime I go back there I just can't get over how much everything costs.
