Last night I went out there a bit and made some Spanish Tapas, had friends over. Albondigas which are home made pork meatballs in a tomato almond sauce, chorizo, garlic button mushies, olives, potato somethingorother, jamon. It went down very well. Made a lovely Spanish omelete with leftovers today.

Tonight it may be a simple pizza night. I'm on the cans already, due to the heat, and really have been wanting a few slices of late. Pepperoni, mushies, onion, garlic and chilli, maybe, or margherita. Something simple.

I rarely go up to the strip especially for food mate. But there are some good restaurants up that way, I have been to a few. Very expensive and touristy though, that's the GC I guess.

My wife worked in hospitality up here and I worked for a very good quality butcher so we have been lucky to have found some great restaurants around The Tweed. We also can get great seafood and meat from the source, so we are slightly pissed off at paying 4 times or more the price for something we can get and cook at home.

My problem is there is a lot of inconsistency in the quality at times. I do not mind paying top dollar for a great meal but it's gotta be bang on whenever I walk in. When it's not I won't return. Fark spending my money on shit.

Maybe I was spoilt growing up in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney. Can walk from basically everywhere down there for a quality feed.

That's the yin yang of living away from a city I guess. I save up my splurges for when I visit Sydney, it's all good.

There are a few good ones......and I mean "few".
I do what backwards does.....BBQ & experiment. Go nuts with it. Quality food, ingredients, herbs & spices.
Some of the nicest meals I've had are the ones we've created on our own.

This is exactly how I feel Backwards. There is nothing worse than paying good money for average or poor food that you know you can prepare better yourself. I also hate going to a place that is going downhill. I have a sushi joint that I used to like. However, recently they have started cutting back on everything. No wasabi on the table, no ginger on the table, no wet towels (no big deal but not even any regular napkins either) and the cocksuckers even stopped serving dipping sauce with the tempura and croquettes. I can't tolerate it. Do they think nobody notices?

I lived in Coogee for many years and still miss having access to so many reliable restaurants.

The seafood here is a disaster too. I only eat imported fish.

I reckon there is a fair difference between being smart and being tight. I can't stand parting with my hard earned for rubbish.

We only eat Aussie seafood.
When you see the farming practises in most parts of Asia it sort of kills any urge for seafood.

Cous cous (partied up - bacon/ginger etc) is another good one.

Beef stir fry with lots of fresh veges.
Felt like something different to drink when i got back from the beach after work so had a cinzano with lemonade, soda water and lots of ice, bloody delicious

Yep so true, unfortunatley if you want seafood from your cheaper type Chinese restaurant you are 99% of the time going to get basa and vannamei prawns, ewwwww

Went to Crinitis for dinner, first time I've been there and it won't be the last. What a top feed.
Don't know what it's called but had the pork and beef ribs/Italian sausage/pork belly in tomato,garlic and chilli sauce. Absolutely delicious. Uncle Nick did a good job getting back to his Italian heritage and signing them as a sponsor. If you haven't been yet do yourself a favour and get out to a Crinitis and have a feed. A little pricey but well worth it and the Little Creatures Pilsner on tap is a nice beer too
