Shane Watson - sook?

Just wondering what other Chookpenners think of him.

Personally I've never liked him and never will. I think he's a biggest sook of the highest order.

I think if Chris Gayle wasn't as disciplined as he was (a couple of years ago) he would have put Watson in to next week and Watson would be talking more drivel than what he does now.

Point is, with all due respect to Lee Furlong (who is heavily pregnant) would have Watson been on the first plane home had he been chosen for the third test? I think not, it was his call. My view is it's all about him and him alone and he thinks he's much better than he actually is. No doubt he'll play the politically correct card is my guess.

Labelling it "homework" by the media has lessened the importance of doing research and analysis on your opposition. I'm sure Robbo is holding a video session with the players on the Warriors as we type. Doing that as a team member is paramount to winning and Watson should have known that, especially as VC. Imagine if Pearce skipped one in favour of banging a model...ok bad example, but you know what I mean.

But if he's genuinely skipping out for the missus, kudos to him. Family always comes first.

I just can't get into the cricket between Feb and Oct.

I am yet to understand the fascination the media have with this bloke.

Besides his constant injury woes I struggle to remember him really dominating at test level. Appears to have a soft mentality that's not suited to 5 day cricket.

Great in the shorter forms of the game.

Why you would want to have that attitude and act like it's a childish exercise, even if it is, when it's a team thing, well IMO he doesn't deserve to wear our national colors again.

Make a mistake, apologize, cop the heat, and do it with some show of remorse.

I saw him at the airport and he acted like he was above it.

Not a show of respect for his coaches or teammates or the baggy green.

Makes me think I had the cat pegged all along.

totally agree...I've hated cricket even more since there's no off season with it anymore.

His comments publicly, largely on social media have been nothing short of embarrassing.

I have to say I couldn't care less if he doesn't return to the team, as a pure batsman he isn't good enough anyway. The team will be better of for the loss of a weak Vice Captain and an average batsman.
