  • General Matchday atmosphere

I go to every home roosters game, each year, however i don't sit in the chook pen. When i go, i love the atmosphere - when the crowd is over 12000. Anyway, i am also a huge supporter of Liverpool FC, i watch them play at 2am every weekend. I feel as if the roosters chants etc are very plain when i watch the European football games (even some a-leage games. So i feel as if our club could set the bar in terms of game-day atmosphere in the NRL if we emulated what goes on in european football. I also realise that they do get much larger crowds than the NRL, and all spectators get involved, which mightn't be the case in Australia

    WSW chants:

    Just a thought.

Sit in the chook pen and give them a rev up mate....no point sitting behind the sticks and beefing about it.

I wouldn't say that i am beefing about it, it was just a suggestion that as a whole supporter base, we could be a little more creative in terms if our chants. The general "roosters clap-clap-clap" and the "Easts" chant can just be a little repetitive. I'm not attacking anyone, it was just a suggestion.

You're right in that the Roosters and the NRL in general need to improve their match-day experience. It makes going to the game all the more attractive for the casual fan who likes to soak in the atmosphere.

I believe Freddy, who works for the roosters marketing department now, mentioned they were looking at improving this facet

We done that when they were walking out. We were sitting near the corner post opposite the chookpen. Everyone joined in when the dogs fans were leaving.

              I hate soccer.

Best way to increase the atmosphere is to increase the crowds.

It's about time marketing addressed this issue - it's been a problem for years now. They figured Sonny Jim would automatically bring the crowds, but it hasn't really happened yet.

Not living in Sydney, we came down for the Dogs game. We had Chookpen tickets and sat there, we really enjoyed the atmosphere and seeing the Dogs fans leaving before the end of the game.
Well done to all the die-hard Roosters supporters that sit there every game come rain or shine.

Thanks Stephen, It was great to be able to come down and sit in the Chookpen and enjoy the atmosphere.
Love to try and come down to Sydney and see some more games live.
Keep up the good work in the "pen".
