I wouldn't call making the Grand Final in your entry season a flop, if anything they over achieved, in my opinion, after a run of 13 wins in a row, it was time, and one game in 22 days leading up to a grandfinal is hardly a successful formula, to win a comp. While not a soccer fan, because I live on the Central Coast, I would like to congratulate the Mariners, for winning the comp, they were there abouts all year, one of the form teams, so a good result.

Exactly , for their first season. They did more than good. It was gonna come the loss, great atmosphere. They were chanting all night. And it was packed too allianz, We should come up with several chants were we are persistent with it throughout the game. Its the most we can do for the chooks. Anyways they had a great season. Just marines outplayed them.

they were never in the game.
it was a classic tale of cool-heads beating the hot-heads.
the mariners had little to no media coverage on them during the week, they went about their business, and having already been in 3 grand finals in 7 years, with their most recent being 2 seasons ago, they had simply 'been there, done that'.
the wanderers on the other hand were being pumped up all week, they were the 'fairytale team' and everyone was expecting them to win. they had a number of injuries leading up to the game, and their key player was hardly sighted during the game.
this reminds me of another particular grand final recently....

I have never heard a louder crowd than the Wanderers today. They were unbelievable. Even when down 2 nil.

Yes the Wanderers were definitely outplayed, but they should of received a penalty for a blatant hand ball less than a minutes after the Mariners scored. Then in the 2nd half the Mariners recveive a penalty for a hand ball (correctly i may ad) which was almost identical to the 1 Wanderers were denied in the 1st half. 2 - 0, game over.

Finishing 1st and making the Grand Final in there 1st season is hardly what i call a flop.

How much joy did the No 2 get scoring that penalty goal?
Did he rub it in to the Wanders fans or what. That guy had an outstanding game.

I watch the EPL highlights all the time on Fox & realised yesterday that the A League standard is not at that level but couldn't help get a feel for the game because of the Wanders supporters. No other sport in Australia has a supporter base that rocks the game like they do. Unbelievable.
